Letting the nose come up without putting pressure, then leading with the knee is probably the least talked about details that make then most difference! Maurio also is like a master of shoulder control, he keeps them so damn steady
@loganm27662 жыл бұрын

@maximustimmy2 жыл бұрын
Another thing to notice is that by the time he’s flicking his front foot his back foot isn’t even on the board anymore, he’s already popped it and raised the foot up really quickly. (Similar to how people do steezy tre Flips) The board then has to come up and the back foot which ultimately decides the height of the Kick flip
@localjoe2 жыл бұрын
Good point! I'll try to cover that at some point!

Yeah staying close to in line with the board helped me jump higher!
@PHeMoX2 жыл бұрын
I also think the whole 'crouching' aspect of _how_ you jump up and how you lean over your board (ie. where your head is at relative to the board) is severely underrated for how it matters the worlds. I landed my first flip tricks by staying more crouched after the flick. I don't even think 'crouched' is the right word, but definitely no extending of the legs.
@sterlingsisemore40562 жыл бұрын
@@PHeMoX I have this bad habit where I land with my feet fully extended and almost right next to each other
@yungjit44562 жыл бұрын
i feel like for me i pop way too high that my front foot doesn’t have enough time to adjust to where my nose is going and i end up air flicking or flicking down. the leading with my shins really helped me stop this bad habit and helped me get 10x more consistent with them. Thanks joe for resurrecting my kickflips 💀

The aspect of sliding your foot up without putting pressure makes a ton of sense. I’ve heard other tutorials where it’s mentioned that with most flip tricks you have to think to wait a split second before flicking/kicking and it’s because of what you’re saying here, that the board pops vertical and keeps going up until you flick. Gonna try these tips later, thanks g!

This is the first time I've heard someone say to hold your shoulder angle which seems like a good tip. I hate the idea/tip of keeping shoulders parallel to the board because many awesome KFs are done with open shoulders, but making sure to hold whatever shoulder position you have is a good key. Mine are open and then rotate a bit closed which can throw the deck and feet off alignment.
@thebayharborbutcher91152 жыл бұрын
Yeah the squared off look is definitely not steezy but the key is you can open your shoulders a little bit as long as you don’t move them when you kick

I feel like you were flicking too fast instead of thinking it like an Ollie letting the board come up more and then engage the flick. I’d try and pop lil more and get that back foot up more. I can get my kickflips above my knee cap right where my thighs are. And I’m jumping high and thinking it like doing a high ollie. Plus your foot is too far back I’d place them right behind the bolts
