Thank you for your kind words. It's not always easy to speak on issues when using a public platform but it also doesn't feel good to hold back on speaking your truth. Thanks again for your understanding and support. 😊👋

@@expatsierra yes i really can translate ur experience as I travel a lot to other countries also,you know as life has become more expensive nowadays since COVID so people are more concentrate on how to gain profit from you than giving you a good services or how to behave with a person well. As for me being a Mauritian local I face this kind of situation also but people are genuinely nice in Mauritius as for me only in some business area you can face real difficulty about price tag or services ..

Thank you Sierra for this video, I am curious, what is the country that you are considering moving to? I dont live in Mauritius but I am doing lots of research on where to go next with my family. Mauritius is amazing, I travelled many times there and I remember that wonderful feeling of calm when I was there. However, visiting and living are very different. Mauritius is an island and people are so much more laid back. I live in Portugal in a rural area and some things take forever here too. Not to mention customer service is non existent. Even the products they are selling here are not of such good quality. I travelled to US for a number of times and people that worked in customer service seemed quite arrogant. I lived in Dubai and travelled the world from there a lot and wherever I went, I encoutered the "higher price" because I am european. Have you also noticed this and is it even more pronounced in Mauritius? Thank you again for your video and for your honest opinion ❤

Thanks for watching and providing feedback 😊. I was interested in relocating to Canada but they are going through a lot as far as immigration is concerned so I'm thinking of a fallback plan. You are right to highlight how an experience in a country as a tourist and actually living there can vary. Without a doubt, I have definitely encountered "higher prices" in Mauritius when I speak and my American accent is detected. It often feels very predatory and uncomfortable. For this reason, I try to only shop in places where the prices are displayed or ask a Mauritian that I trust to speak on my behalf. I heard that Flic en Flac has a large expat community for families relocating to Mauritius. Finding community abroad is definitely important because they know the ropes and can help guide you through their shared experiences.

@@expatsierra Yes we love it, my daughter has settled into school nicely, which was our biggest fear. It’s such a big move from England to Mauritius. But “so far so great”

Thanks for the video. How do you sort out your hair/braids? Are there salons that cater to afro hair? Hair care stores?
@expatsierra
@expatsierra 18 күн бұрын
Hi Christell and thanks for watching. I get my hair done at a salon near Quatre Bornes called Frangi Coiffure. They specialize in afro textured hair. There are other Mauritian salons throughout the island that do the same and they advertise their pages on Facebook and Instagram. Sometimes they also sell hair care products as well. There are also a lot of Africans from mainland Africa in Mauritius that will braid your hair if you just ask them. I haven't seen any stores specifically for hair in Mauritius but SOME beauty stores will have a small section of afro hair care products for 4a-4c curls. Honestly, you should try to bring the products that you really like.

The country that you had your eyes on that tightened immigration is Thailand, right?
