Mauritius is a popular honeymoon and beach holiday destination. In this video we’re going beyond the relaxing beach life and check out must see attractions in the south-west of Mauritius: we hike up to the highest Mountain on Mauritius, visit the island’s best rum distillery, try a lot of rum, visit the popular Chamaral Geo Forest Park and then try some of the best fried noodles that we had on Mauritius.

I just did this trail with my partner. Please be aware that when its raining this trail gets really really really!! MUDDY, also its around 2-3 hours one way depending on your speed and conditions. And you will need to walk the same path back to your car.The ropey bit at the end, is very steep and again very slippery when muddy. This trail is fun but not for beginners 😂!

Real Ti Punch is made with sugarcane juice actually. It tastes way better than with just added sugar.

1. Mines frits are my all time favorite dish. The noodles are not boiled but freshly made with eggs and they're thin and refined. I badly miss them for you don't get those kind of noodles in Europe or other places of the world apart perhaps Northern China. The cook here put a tad too much soya sauce... it needs scrumptious oyster and garlic sauce 2. I feel you when you rated the degree of hotness while hopping inside the car. It's like sitting inside an oven. This is one of those typical Mtian "Gemütlichkeit" experience just like the film of moisture simmering over your face, the pleasure of swimming in lukewarm water while its pouring at daytime or at midnight, the mosquitoes (wear long sleeved clothing when hiking), the small ceiling lizards, the funny-shaped mountains 3. Yes 7 colored earth is overhyped but still a place of interest and the intensity of the colors is tributary of the luminosity, weather conditions, etc. I don't think it qualifies as a tourist trap as some might feel though 4. My favorite activity is hiking through the Black River pristine forest. You come across valuable timber, trees producing spices (pepper, cinnamon, cloves, etc.) and endemic birds 5. I personally am not a fan of rural Mauritius. It definitely has it's charm but people are cold there. I was born and bread in the cities of the central plateau where people are easy going and where you might get a respite from the stifle. Hence, I prefer Rose Hill, Curepipe and Quatre Bornes but I might be biassed. They might not reflect what tourists seek but translate genuine Mauritian life, the street food, the collegiate ambiance being the center of education), the tram line making it easy to move around

One goal of our road trip was also to see many different parts of the island to get a good overview of the country. So in our next videos we'll also check out places, such as Curepipe and Quatre Bornes 🙂

Attention: @aufstiegundfall all these places they've visited are parts of Mauritius. Even tho the south or south east regions doesn't have high traffic or big monstrous developments like Rose hill, Quatre Bornes,, these Tropical // landscape // nature wise places are def worth it. And you said you bread OUPS grammar police here , bread its born and bred lol NOT bread "Du pain". So anyway RURAL places are more cooler than your big monstrous towns where they're lot polluted air. I'm glad im born and bred in the SOUTH and i get to live a healthy life and everyday go to the BEACH and BREATHE cool AIR. 🤪 rather than SUFFOCATED air in Curepipe , or LA VILLE DES FLEUR (Quatre Bornes) , Port Louis etc.🙂
