The language is fairly similar to Swedish and Norwegian, but it's the way Danish is spoken and pronounced that makes it difficult. Norwegian is more in between the other two languages, making it so that both swedes and danes think it's easier to talk to a Norwegian than each other. Allow me to recommend two videos on the Danish language and why it's so ...odd. 1. Why Danish sounds funny to Scandinavians - by NativLang This explains why the Danish language has evolved into what it is today, and why it sounds so strange, even to other Scandinavians. (I literally just saw you've already done this one!) 2. Danish language - by "snurre" on KZbin. It's actually a sketch from a Norwegian comedy show, that makes fun of how difficult to understand the Danish language is becoming. It's hilarious. A classic!

He speaks with a rather thick Skåne accent, it's like almost halfway between Swedish and Danish. I have no difficulties understanding Swedish from Finland or Stockholm, but the Skånska gives me a headache. 😂

That is a slight scanian accent. A broad one would be from center of Skåne to the eastern side. You can clearly hear that his dialect got affected by living 20 years on Sthlm.

Finland was a part of Sweden for many ,many years and many people on the west coast of Finland still speaking Swedish ...in the the way Swedish was spoken back in the days . As a Swedish born Swede living in Sweden , I must say Finland-Swedish dialect is a old fashioned , very charming and popular dialect in Sweden nowadays reminding us about old times. By the way. You are a very pleasant recator!

@@mauronicolo89 Swedish/norwigian and Danisjh are really really close but are different löanguages - if all try and are forgiving towards eachother speaking is fairly easy esp vetween norwigians and swedish but danish is a thicker accent and they count odd and dont prenounce words the same way. read Danish is faitly (as is standard Norweigian) so much that things made in like US has it information/warnings printed toghter for those three languages.

@@ronnyhansson8713 As a "stockholmer" I certainly hear what they say, in 98% of cases. I've had more problems with rural Norrländska (northern dialects) than dito from Skåne over the years.

@@herrbonk3635 well rural norrländska (dependning on where you put that group, since i have family in the north even if i was born and live in stockholm) that line is a bit fluent - in my cases they DONT speak swedish anymore but Meänkieli (tornedalsfinska) or Saami so that IS a differnt language...

@@ronnyhansson8713 It's not Meänkieli or Finnish I'm talking about, at all. But the melody and (lack of) intonation is kind of similar, in large areas up in the north. However, I was more thinking of old people from (say) Burträsk and similar.

Good evening, my Italian newfound friend! I just paused when "we" got to Iceland... Youre absolutely right when you say there's just about 400.000 people... So .. come to think .. 400 000 people? A National Football team in world class AND 40000 people flying to Russia to support!?!?!? Thats one of every ten you see in Iceland!!! 400.000 people, and a world class Handball team!!! 400.000 people... and jeeeeeezuss christ... The music, the hits... Even if youre ignorant youve heard of Björk and Sugacubes - and everything was created by ONE man and his vision: You wanna be a football pro? I'll help you... You wanna be a pop star? I'll help you... The Icelandic man Einar deserves all credit you can give, one man with a strong hearty believe has influenced a whole nation in a way you Italians or we Swedes can ever understand!!! In a poll for the election he got 69% for President - but he said he was busy producing a Punk record with a new band... You just gotta love Einar, You just gotta love Iceland... Love from Sweden 💖

It's only Danes in Copenhagen who have difficulty understanding Swedish. In other parts of Denmark such as southern Jutland, Danes understand Swedes just fine. This is strange because Danes in Copenhagen are closest to Sweden. Especially when there has long been a bridge between Copenhagen and Malmö.

swedish, danish and norweigan is if all concentrate and focus "understandablke" between us (swedish and norwegian is is way easier to understand for swedes) nordic languages (except finnish) are fairly close to eachother it chnahges both north to south and from east to west (so people living in the western part of sweden has easier to understand norweigans and people in the southern part can eaierly understand danish (appearently danish people has a hard time understand the swedish spoken just across the bridge and have easier to understand the "official swedish")

Yeah, Danish is next to impossible to understand. I have worked in store when Danes have come in and try to talk to me in Danish. I ask them to speak in English since I have no idea what they say. I can read and understand a lot but spoken it is extremely different from Swedish and Norwegian. And Johan has a quite light accent that most Swedes understand but there are much shinker accents from Skåne that are almost to the level of Danish.

It is very difficult to understand Danish for us in Sweden. They have their language in the throut. But you can understand it written. Norwegian is easy to understand. Finnish is quite another language. Not a word is like Swedish. Johan Glans is from south part of Sweden (Skåne) and pronounce the ’R’ in a different way than the bigger part of Sweden. You do not understand people in Iceland.

So swedish is the ground language ( it´s not, but lets pretend it is ). Norwegian is the same language, but when you are a little but drunk. You can understand it, but you have to fokus. Danish is when you are s*it drunk. We can understand a word here and there and then we are trying to fit them together to a sentence. Sometimes we can and other times we just switch to english. Finnish is like talking to a fish. Is it even a language? No. Fortunately Finland has two official languages, swedish and finnish. And the ones who can talk swedish are like Norways and Denmarks academic teachers. We understand everything and they even speak better swedish than Swedes do. But with a Moomin accent. Iceland, yeah we have to speak english because it´s like speaking with someone from Isengard and no one but them can speak elvish.
