Hello from France, The stock is an early sauer und sohn stock, you can tell by the smaller bolt dissassembly hole in the stock, sauer was the only manufacturer to use these

Cool rifle! I've got a BYF44 as well, but it's in some rough shape. From what I can tell, it's a balkan capture, it's waffenamts were crudely removed with a blunt object and it's exposed metal is nearly in the white.

Mauser's are by far an outstanding bolt action..which most American hunting and other rifles owe their DNA to...many of these rifles when picked up on the side of the road in Germany in piles..German equipment such as gas mask's belt's and other various items the Germans had been stripped of like helmet's and such....many times when German's were traken prisoner...the K98k they had was taken from their hands and bolt was removed and thrown into the forrest wherever they were taken Prisoner....it was duffel cut so they could bring it back..... cause if it fits in your duffel it's your's...so The bayonet lug is (usually not allway's) missing and so is the spring and forward & rear barrel nut...those were removed to sporterize them...stock had to be replaced by first or second buyer...they cut down the original stock to do the sport thing....but kept the Bayonet lug and other barrel part's...and the original handgaurd!....nice rifle my friend.....KEEP ON ROCKING IT!....TOW II BRAVO...........

It looks like a vet bring back to me. You have the common matching bolt to itself not rifle combo pulled from piles by soldiers. There should be a number on the recoil lug left side. That will help narrow manufacturer and year range used. Most likely replaced stateside.

Cool breakdown on a really impressive rifle. Did the Germans refurbish their rifles?

@Yettiattack wow I bey it's beautifully.. I just had a collector slash antique dealer appraise mine for 2300 I guess it was made in germ at the obendorf mauser plant and according to him it's all orig numbers matching no rebuild parts .. he even pointed out there's a nazi eagle crest stamped into the wood shoulder stock that I had never before seen
