These box sets are equivalent in price to a 5e book, yet the design, content, creativity, and usability blow them out of the water. Truly amazing looking products. WOTC could learn a lot from the amazing creators out there.

I started two years ago on a journey to revive my interest in roleplaying games I had when I was 12 (I am now 42). I bought many modules and the core books for 5e. I read a lot. I googled a lot. I followed all the 5e related channels and finally I ended up with Tiny Dungeon 2e, ICRPG, Mutant Year Zero, Forbidden Lands, Maze Rats and Knave to fiddle together a system I can play with my 5th graders in school. Also I took Dragontown (by J.P. Coovert) as a perfect setting for this age. It seems as if I just cant finde a way into 5e and the core books are absolutley bad in terms of presentation for learners. I am close to the point where I am going to sell all my 5e stuff just to state that WOTC does really NOTHING to help new players and younger players to find a way into the world of ttrpg...

So incredibly honored to be apart of this amazing new box set! The Ember Tree comes directly from my personal Mausritter sessions so it is a bit surreal to see it included - thanks so much about the kind words on its design, and keep up the great work as always Ben!

I feel like The Estate could be an amazing adventure for a non-Mausritter campaign - if the PCs were somehow shrunk down. Maybe they are cursed, or hired to recover a tiny magic item from a creature in the estate.

I was introduced to the OSR scene from your videos so it's really exciting to see my adventure in this review. Thanks for the kind words and for everything you do for this community :)

The Estate is fabulous. My players are doing their third adventure from it now and they absolutely love it. It's so well made, with great characters and art, interconnections between adventures, and hooks everywhere. Plus a ton of neat items and spells to add to the game. A really excellent campaign in a box for OSR play.

I LOVE the setup of all the small adventure zines in a box with additional resources to tie them together. Would love to see something like this for Troika!

Ran this for the first time last night and my players had a blast! For most of them this was their first OSR style game and one player's first RPG in general. The lethality surprised them a little at first, but they caught on quick and learned to fight smarter not harder.

This game reminds me of a children's book/toy set in the best way possible; it feels chocked full of nostalgia, is cozy as heck, and calls back to some classic books and other media like "Mouse on the Motorcycle", "Rescuers", even "Tom and Jerry". I picked up the free pdf right after this review but now I'm itching to get my hands on the Estate.

Oh man, playing this with minis could be on a whole different level, especially with kids! Imagine having a bunch of 30mm-ish mice minis and then going out into the garden with them ...!! You could hide NPCs, clues and treasures in advance ...

This looks adorable, and if there's not a comic, there should be. Reminds me of "Redwall", and that's definately a good thing. I've never played D&D or any kind of tabletop game (I live in the middle of nowhere), but I'm a writer and have grown very fond of D&D/OSR storytelling. There's just something so elegantly simple about it, and I hope to play at a table someday. "Swords & Wizardry", "Basic Fantasy", "Old-School Essentials", and "OSRIC" are all my wishlist. I'm also thinking about buying some old school D&D books from DriveThruRPG. I know it sounds strange to be into a hobby you can't partake in, but I really enjoy the world of D&D and OSR.

Time after time again, things like these just prove how horrible WotC layouts are. This is an absolute joy to look at and it looks like a joy to run. The information is compact enough to leave room for improv during play. They truly understand that less is more.

As a minimalist rules set with a physical inventory, it's ideal for kids. A lot of the adventures are whimsical, nothing particularly grim. My feeling is that it's good for anyone that the theme appeals to.

I've played two adventures with my girlfriend and her 8 year-old daughter (Fruit of the Orchard, Mush Rush). It's been totally age-appropriate, and we're all having a great time. Little kids - or at least this little girl - aren't murder hobos, so finding clever solutions tends to be the default.
