The value your platform Maven provides is second to none. Some platforms move completely into paid model only. But sharing the love of data and skills , more importantly keeping some videos like these and few courses free will help the world to grow and become more data literate. Thanks Chris

Chris , Thank you so so so much for this quick overview. I have been digging deep and taking several courses trying to learn Power Bi as I am pretty good with Access and Excel but going over Data Modeling and working with Star Schema, I felt I was rolling over and over as the waves of knowledge just keep tossing me around and the under tow was pulling me out to deeper water. This short example, I can't explain it but finally feel my head is above water, and I can finally breathe. It makes since even the little bit of DAX you used. IT made everything else come into focus. I can't thank you enough. Maybe it's just that I was raised with LEGOs, so I like the subject. LOL Thanks Again. Sgtmusic

Putting this on my to-do list now! I’d do it right now but I’m busy finishing up the Power BI Desktop course. :)

Thanks, Chris! 😀This was a fantastic project to work on. I’ve completed it, but I had to use some workarounds, especially with the image visual. Since I don’t have a work email, I couldn’t access the one you used. Instead, I used the multi-row card, but it had limitations with resizing the picture and impacted my thumbnail size as well (whitespace). Do you have any suggestions for an alternative native visual that could work better for images? I just started my powerbi learning journey a couple of weeks ago and this project covered a lot of great things

Glad you found it helpful! I initially tried using a native visual for the images but ran into the same limitations you described. I haven't played with other custom visuals but I'm sure there are some workarounds or alternatives out there to get the job done.

I did a Tableau Public version. I was able to replicate everything with calculated fields, etc. Only issue was the URL, I couldn't get that to work. Really good tutorial overall.

Is this enough for a beginner? I hv some tableau and vega lite experience. Would this be enough to get knowledge to use at work?

Thanks for the lecture. Very informative. I've been trying to get to solve problem with the Simple Image app all day today and I can't do it. For some reason, it doesn't even want to display images that I've uploaded to Google Drive or locally on my computer (and created a link to). What could be the reasons why it's not working for me at all? I downloaded their sample and saw that even in their example, images with only a url are not displayed, but images with the type "data:image/png;base64....." are displayed correctly and beautifully. What are the problems and how can I fix them?

I'm a beginner, How do you create the base background image that you begin with?
@Chris-at-Maven13 күн бұрын
You can add shapes (like rounded rectanges) to the canvas in Power BI just like you would in Power Point, which is what I did here. You can also design backgrounds in other programs and load them into Power BI as images.

Hi Chris, I'm getting a Cloudflare "I'm a human" message and hence I cannot display the set images in Power Bi. How do I bypass this?

Sounds like some other users are having problems with that particular image visual, so it seems like it may be a regional issue (maybe tied to browser, VPN settings, etc.). Maybe test a different image visual from AppSource to see if that helps?

Due to cloudflare security, images are not rendering. :(
