Wow! An original copy handled by Bram, what I wouldn’t give to hold that

As a fan of the Dracula novel I just love all these videos with Mr. Dacre Stoker. Plus he seems like a genuinely nice guy.
@Penelope-xx5pq Жыл бұрын
He's just a scam. Understanding the work and literary talent does not come through DNA. His continuation is a disaster and he distorted his uncle's story.
@carsonsmith7314 Жыл бұрын
@@Penelope-xx5pq yeah, but there’s one thing you forgot. Dacre stoker never sought to replace the original book. Plus the prequel he did was actually an improvement.

This is fascinating! I just started reading Dracula a couple of days ago, and, as a Romanian, it's been absolutely fascinating to see how much detail Stoker put into the research! I'm only on chapter 3 so far, but I really appreciate the research - it's beautifully accurate to my people's history so far.

Wow this is the neatest kind of collector's edition and canonization of a classic popculture thing. Now I want to see the Tolkien Estate sell replicas of Tolkien's unreadable wall of unmarked and unsorted lore notes.

Did any of these "First Editions" books ever go out? How would a person go about ordering a "virgin" 2 book set right now (March 2023)? I went on the Gemini sight and they are just listed as "sold out" with some updates on the Kickstarter pre-production.

I loved the book and the movies. I've also read the sequel of sorts that Mr. Dacre Stoker wrote, as well as Dracul which both were beautiful. ^///^

I have put away (somewhere) a very old Dracula book that I have had a long while and would like to sell it. I have been looking for a way to determine its value, and I'd like to find a buyer. Where do I go to find this information?

I feel like this is a slim chance, but I really want to buy the first american edition of Dracula that they have refurbished with the white cover. Is there any way I can? Please help and advise if so 🙏❤

i read somewhere that stoker chose to limit himself in terms of length since in his day, publishing a single-volume novel longer than 300 pages would have been more expensive for the author. those who read the original notes by stoker and the scenes that he deleted (such as dracula's guest and powers of darkness) couldn't help but wonder why he didn't write the definitive text that he had in mind all along and then divided it into three volumes. structurally it was all there: 1: harker's journey to transylvania 2: dracula discovered in london and chased out by harker van helsing and others. 3: dracula's final defeat in transylvania. for example, dracula's castle was supposed to have collapsed after his death. there is such an excerpt.

I have a great project idea. Recreate all of the letters, journal entries, news articles and transcripts of the wax recordings then type Mina's narrative as "Dracula".

It may be weird to say but Dacre seems like a really dorky Robert Redford (in appearance anyway). As I have absolutely no idea what Redford would be like to sit down with. But at least Dacre is dorky about something they have such a connection to and history with.

@alirodina3 жыл бұрын
I've heard a number of professional archivists and restorers who recommend handling old books with bare hands--obviously they need to have clean hands, but otherwise clean bare fingers are more precise and careful than gloved ones, so it's probably fine.

I'm assuming they imposed selfquarantaines before and after for this promotional/interview chance. Probably got an extremely well ventilated studio set up, too.

Never handle a valuable book with bare hands. Is that really a 1st edition? I don't understand how careless you both are with it. Where can I order those two reproductions? What are the ISNB's?
