I am so grateful for this. While I academically knew and understood the Emancipation Proclamation and what happened in gross sadness of the delays of it reaching Texas. I wanted so much to be able to honestly recognize and celebrate the miracle of Junteenth, but too much of it came across presented under such a blanket of divisiveness that I was struggling to embrace it for its good and right intentions. Your opening statements and explanation is exactly what needs to be heard.
