I was an emotional wreck after watching Top Gun Maverick this year. My father passed away in April, I came home to find him already gone. Nothing I could do to save him. He enjoyed Top Gun, and for reasons you can assume I was pretty emotional through the whole movie. Love the culture of these films and the true meaning of American pride and love on display behind the screen too. Great effort and work went into these films and i'm glad I was alive to see them both. Miss you pops, wish you were here.

Sorry for your loss. Lost my Dad back in February 2021 to Covid and Top Gun was his favorite film. I went through the same experience watching the new film. For those reasons Maverick will always be one of my favorite characters and I’m grateful for it. May your pain lessen in time and all you’ll have left are the good memories and lessons learned from your father.

you're absolutely right. I'm only 19 years old but I grew up with this movie, I first accidentally saw Top gun when I was 5 years old and I still watch it. Even after 30 years, it still has the same charm, energy and is the best army friendship story I know! I went through the air force recruitment this year and hope to fly one day. When Top gun 2 came out last year I spent my entire monthly pocket money to see it 6 times in the cinema and it's a blast! Best Hollywood movie since I was born. It has many similarities to the original Top gun, but the aerial scenes are divine! Maverick and Ice simply breathed life into this movie sequel and it wouldn't be the same without him! Awesome job guys!!! Don't thing, just do and keep creating!

I joined the USN a year before this movie came out. Top Gun was OUR movie. Me and my shipmates watched it every night on the mess deck before lights out at 2200... We enjoyed popcorn and ice cream too. We are all brothers to this day, every year at our reunions, but sadly there are fewer of us now 35 yrs later. Hand salute to my USN brothers. 🙏🏼🙏🏼💝😪🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

I still remember the day the first Top Gun Maverick trailer dropped. Thursday, July 18th, 2018. I was in a pub in Portland, randomly wearing a t-shirt with Maverick's Kawasaki Ninja on it. I was ecstatic! Then came the delay. Then another. And another. And another. I jokingly said I would die before this movie came out. Then on June 22nd, 2021, I was hit and nearly killed by a DUI driver who ran a red light while I crossed the street. Recovery has been difficult, but I made it. When the movie debuted I was there, opening night, wearing my aviators and leather Maverick bomber jacket cosplay. I basically cried tears of happiness throughout the whole movie. I've now seen the movie 5 times in theaters and countless more at home. Thanks for making this amazing tribute.

Maverick and Top Gun always made me proud to be an American and proud of the military. I could never serve because I am blind as a bat. My uncle was a helicopter pilot that was killed in an accident in Germany. I also have two nephews who served. I hope a lot of things change in the next two years because those in power now are only helping our enemies, not us.

If you're of a certain age - and you remember the original Top Gun from your youth fondly, and enjoyed Top Gun Maverick recently - something about seeing the two edited together - as if the 30 years between them never happened - is just really goosebump inducing. It's not really about the film even is it? It's about how watching 1986 and 2023 spliced together like this makes you reflect on the passing of time, what changes...and what doesn't. And if it hits you that way - I bet your eyes won't stay dry watching this. Magical edit. Well done.

Belive it or not I was in VF2 in the first Westpack deployment of F-14's to Vietnam. The Enterprise picked up our ordnance at Pearl Harbor, and I didn't see land for 30 days. We ran those tomcats and sorties every day, from Cebu Phill. then eventually through the straights of Molucca to Vietnam. WE did 8 and 10 hour days. I was a white sweater with black checks electrical trouble shooter on the flight deck, what a great job. We flew around and flew lots of sorties and then the evacuation of Saigon. The night held the auras of white , blue, and yellow explosions for hours on the bottom of the clouds. I went to my bunk it had been a long day. There had been helicopters everywhere. The next day we sailed away. I'm glad to have helped save some people. Tommy

Can’t explain how much the original Top Gun impacted my life… but I’ll try. I grew up in San Diego (son to a Navy Seal) and although I wasn’t a Navy pilot, I was also in Navy Spec Ops as my father was. My girlfriend at the time was blond and blue eyed, like Kelly McGillis, and we use to eat at Kansas City BBQ all the time (where the piano scene was filmed). I lived in a little apt on the beach in I.B and had allot of the same life moments as Maverick. People always said I looked just like Cruise and I even sung, you’ve lost that loving feeling in bootcamp with my classmates… weird how art can imitate life. It always breaks my heart to watch Top Gun and remember those days, and how they’re now gone forever (as is that girl). Getting old sucks.
