They have been called one of the best country music bands of all time that you've never heard of. Raul's Cuban heritage is the heart behind all of it.

Great band ...don't know why people don't seem to be familiar with them...they are really very good entertainment...and Raul has great voice and range. They did such a great rendition here of Bruce Springsteen's song....I think its the best one.

I went to see The Mavericks when they first performed in the UK many, many years ago. It was at the 'students Union' Manchester. Was like a private show just for us, only 100 people max. The guys even had to pack away their own gear after the gig and that's when I got the drum sticks they used for the show signed by all the band and a plectrum. Happy days :)

Personally, I didn't know this was a Springsten song. I heard it first by the Mavericks, and it hit me deep. It's the only version I even care to hear, not the least bit interested in the The Boss Egomaniac version. However, for anyone questioning the validity...Take a listen to Dolly Pardon's version of Stairway to Heaven. It's certainly not Zeppelin, but it's just as amazing in it's own way. "And it makes me wonder."

I don't care one whit it Springy did it. This is the consuumate version. Sometimes the student surpasses the master. This is one example.
@acason44 жыл бұрын
msattler111 They do a solid job, but that’s partly because it’s a great song. Springsteen’s version is far superior because of his voice & the quite subtlety the song holds onto. Their’s is a bit too rock based...

Really good live version of my favorite Mavericks song!!! Sorry Bruce, I love you, but the Mavericks do your song better than you do. They are the Boss, On all that heaven will allow!!! This IS NOT BETTER than the original. OMFG people ...........
@stevenanney60210 жыл бұрын
Any cover of a Springsteen song is better than the original folks, cause Bruce is not a singer! This guy is ... he sounds like Dwight Yokum, Buck Owens and the How Do You Like Me Now... Toby Keith all at the same time. A big plus for this guy is he can play and sing at the same time and has a killer Duane Eddie sound from the drummer, bass and his own guitar. So , If Bruce is the Boss,, Raul is Bruce's supervisor. Go Mav's !
@anthonysalvati586810 жыл бұрын
Probably one of the dumbest comments I have ever heard on youtube. There is no connection to the song here because "duh" he didnt write it. That's like saying that any cover of a Dylan song is better than the original because Dylan is not a singer.And just for the record, the last thing I want to hear on a rock song is someone who sounds like Dwight Yokum or Buck Owens.
@robertvincent946110 жыл бұрын
Steve...seriously, I hope that you're trolling. If you're not, you just scored major dumbass points. I'm a longtime fan of Raul and the Mavericks and (as with most covers that they do) there's no denying that they hit this one out of the park. If you don't like Bruce or his music, that's fine...but you show your complete ignorance with statements like Bruce can't sing and play at the same time when he's been doing exactly that for 40 years now. Guys like you are the type of morons that if they're playing the jukebox at a bar I'll purposely put money in and pay extra credits to bump my songs over his...because I don't want to subject a bar to the musical whims of an idiot.
@stevenanney60210 жыл бұрын
Hey, look guys ... that is my opinion! If you like Bruce it is ok by me. I think know more about what I like than you two do. So enjoy yourselves when you go to New Jersey. (please note , some of Springsteens songs are very good and his Born in the USA video was great! Just think that after 40 years he would be able to sing and play better than he does.) IMO
@woodsideCraig9 жыл бұрын
Steve Nanney This would have some weight if Bruce hadn't have won so many Grammy's for Best Rock Vocals. You may not like his voice, but by the standard singers are measured, he's been rewarded for it. The concept he doesn't have a good voice is old and tired.
@stevenanney6029 жыл бұрын
Old and tired?? No one said Bruce isn't an entertainer , a hard worker and a man that puts on a heck of a show....! no one Could say that... but when a fellow sings at the very top of his range and strains his vocal chords until he is rasping out the last few numbers... well vocals awards or not, he is not a good singer. His wife even tells him to take it down a step, don't push it so much(strain). But he IS an entertainer and not prone to listening to a professional singer/wife.I stand by my statements.
@mortsolomon46032 жыл бұрын
