Ian is, as always, the best at explaining how these things work in a clear and sensible way. I've had a mavic air for nearly the same length of time. It rarely gets used mainly because of where I live and the weather. I still watched this all the way through as I can still learn something. My ONLY gripes with this machine are: The screen text is too small (satellites) you should be able to change text sizes in the app. Almost EVERY time I turn the Air on there is yet another update! DJI you need to stop! SUPERB work Ian. Thank You.
@IaninLondon5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the good words! Yep, updates happen a lot but you can still fly and ignore it, so you update later. And as for text size, yes, I'm thinking a set of reading glasses may not be too far away for me too.... cheers, Ian

Great video, just picked up a used Mavic Air flymore package. The guy only used it for under an hour I checked his app status and 6 flights. No crashes no damage plastic still on the remote and stickers on the drone, tag on the carry bag. Can’t believe it, only 500 CAD which is what I was going to pay for a Mavic Mini without the flymore package before I decided to check varagesale. Batteries are all healthy and all is well! I’m still blown away I managed to get an essentially new Mavic Air for the price of a solo Mavic Mini before tax. Really helpful is the increased weight to compensate for the crazy winds we get here in the Canadian prairies. Been learning all the settings and reading the manual all day today, going for my Maiden flight tomorrow morning. Thanks for the clear and concise video, without loud EDM music ten minutes of vlogging before getting to the content with some green haired “hype beast” youtuber subbed! We get around 4KM in Canada with the Air, is it different over in Europe?

DJI loves to abandon previous buyers of products after they make the purchase. I was basically the Beta tester for DJI after purchasing the Inspire 1 x5 with sometimes months of down time due to bad patches making the camera useless. Shortly after purchasing the quadcopter they quit making new batteries and the few that were in stock didn’t age well. Now the $5500 machine is dead in the water until I find a new battery hack/ manufacturer as the old batteries have been used up years ago. I purchased a Mavic Air and now the same issue with batteries. Ugh….

After 5 years of owning the Mavic Air...it's going strong, the camera is still decent even by today's standards, and I've only had a few minor issues with it. The plastic part on the lower USB port of the controller (I've always used the larger USB port to connect the controller to my phone) loosened a couple of months ago and detached which left just exposed pins inside that USB port (DJI repaired it for $60), and one of my 4 Mavic Air batteries went into hibernation last year and wouldn't "wake up." Sent the battery into DJI, they woke the battery, no fees. The drone itself is still in pristine condition and flies beautifully to this day. I grabbed the Neo for my 13 yr old son for Xmas...otherwise the Mavic Air (v1) does everything I need and I see no reason to upgrade any time soon.

Another gread video Ian, I've had an AIR since Christmas and have bought a Mavic 2 Zoom recently also however I still prefer the AIR for much of what i film, it's an awesome drone i would happily by another if i wrecked it, in fact i'd have to as it's my `go to` drone. I recently acquired a Spark (was found near stonehenge) i've flown it twice and oh my god is it bad compared to the AIR ! Does not like wind at all and drifts all over the place! If anyone reading this had a white spark fly away while filming stonehenge a month or so ago get in touch, i'll happily return it :) My advice to AIR owners it get on Ebay and get as many reconditioned batteries as you can, don't pay over £60 per battery. If you only have a few batteries you will be tempted to recharge them while they are still hot which will kill them. Also don't film below 30 frames per second in 4K, unless you are extremely smooth when panning the drone your footage will be juddery and useless. Stick with 4K/30FPS on auto white balance and you're good to go, and keep the sun behind the camera. Final tip! you don't need the latest computer to edit 4k, just get an SSD hard drive and a GTX 1060 or better graphics card and just edit using proxies. Learning to edit with proxies will make editing 4k a pleasure, even on old computers. Keep up the great work, Stuart.

Avoid National Parks and use the B4UFly app. Most National Forests actually don't prohibit drones, only National Parks. Hi Ian. Thanks for all your amazing videos and great information. I've got a mavic air for around 2 years now and i absolutely love it! My only issue with it is the range. I can't get it to fly too far away without losing signal. Maybe 500m at most! Most of the times it might be even at 300m. This also happens on open fields and coastlines. Do you have any advice on what I could try to improve this? I tried to change the frequency as well but i didn't have any better results..

I was going to say possible interference but if it's always happening in different locations, then possibly it's something else; To be clear, are you defo positioning the antenae correctly (10 oclock and 2 oclock facing up so the long edge is facing the drone, NOT pointing them at the drone) and you are always facing direction of the drone?

The Air 2S is brilliant, but as things stand at present in the UK, all non C numerical marked drones become legacy at the end of the year and you'll only be able to fly in open countryside. You can definitely change it but it should automatically jump to the band of least interference. Did you accidentally once change and permanently set it to 5.8 maybe? It should jump by itself. 5.8 should transmit further but is more likely to get interference..... Ian.
