I was very disappointed to find out that DJI left out waypoints as part of the Mavic Air package. In this video, I want to show you how you can easily plan and execute a Mavic Air waypoint mission with the Litchi App.

OUTSTANDING!!!! I tried to complete a mission that including taking photos and aiming at a POI but it didn't work. NOW I know I have to use straight lines and no curves and to disable AUTO RECORDING! Thanks SO much!!

@@CHRISFREE84 Yes I did use it with the Mavic Air and it worked great! Could setup waypoints etc and worked like a charm. I ended up getting rid of the Mavic Air and upgraded to a Zoom model. Love this thing! Fun as heck! Now I have to think about going FPV! Looks fun

I really hope that one day they will make it that you can fly a path for lets say a minute and it remembers it, and so when you put it wherever it just flies that path exactly like you did it but on auto pilot instead of it flying to the saved points. cause I have some cool ideas but im by myself so that would make it so much easier to create cool stuff

As far as you know is there a way to use mission hub to plan a waypoint mission, stop in the middle of the mission and do a pano (like you can a photo) then resume the mission.

It will not, requires DJI have released an SDK allowing 3rd parties to control the drone

Also, I use the Pano feature all the time. When using a stitching app you can make a wonderful 360 pano with a POI in the center and when making the pano from 100 feet or so it is spectacular.

Your videos are always so good! I’m going to have to try Litchi with my Phantom 4. I like the layout of the interface better than DJI’s app. Also great is the ability to setup a mission without firing up the drone thereby burning battery. I really am glad I discovered your channel. You and Ken Heron are my favorite go 2 RC related channels.

Thanks for the video. I have a concern with this. See the phantoms had on board storage, so you the mission was uploaded to the drone and once this happened, the drone would carry out the mission regardless if the drone lost signal or not. I have read where people have lost their mavic air if they were trying to do a mission, and it lost signal. ...

The same will happen to the Mavic air it will complete the mission, but if something screws up the mission like magnetic interference without having contact with the drone, you might lose it.

yes, you can do that if make sure to download the map in the app. Litchi is ok, but 100% stable it's not.

Hi, we need waypoints for exactly the opposite reason as yourself, we want to fly the Magic air mapping the route as we go, this is because we film in forests with many obstacles. Can we do this with Litchi? :-)

L&M Yes you can create a litchi mission "on the fly" as you fly. I am still also fairly new to this as well but have created and flown several missions "on the fly" as I fly. I also live and fly in dense woodland along with mountainous terrain with a Mavic platinum. The mission is created by pushing certain buttons on the controller during a flight at each location you want a "point of interest" or a waypoint. See the "keys" part of litchi settings to see what keys (buttons) to push. You may want to manually "tweak" each waypoint for things like flight speed, camera angle, which point of interest when, etc before flying the newly created mission. I set my overall mission flight speed at 2.5 MPH so that I have time to react if the drone is going to hit any obstacle during mission flight. I can always speed up my mission in video editing.

As far as I know, only legislation and battery life prevent you from doing this. If you lose contact with the drone it will continue the mission.

I can attest that this is exactly correct. In the right circumstances, I have had a 4 mile route perform using 70% of my battery. For most of that journey, the drone was out of contact with the controller and phone. It executed the waypoints and thankfully returned!

Hi there, I started doing waypoint grid missions with my mavic air last week and the one thing I could not figure out is if there is a waypoint of restarting where the drone had to abandon the mission due to low battery. In other words, I'd be flying a grid, would almost be done a grid line but not quite and the drone would abandon the mission to go back home due to low battery. Then when starting it again, I would need to delete all the waypoints I have already flown on my grid for the drone to start again at more or less the same place. (If my grid lines were 500m for example and it had flown 400m of the 500, I would still need to restart that whole grid line) Any way of solving this? Thanks!

Sorry, but this video is useless if you don’t know how litchi works. Actions at way points with curves for example don’t workas the drone never reaches the way point. The software will tell you that actually....
