what is the legality of using a crowdsourcing site like kickstarter..how did you do this without being sent a cease and desist from disney , i am asking because i am interested in makin a star wars fan film myself , and i am also in Atlanta but in the toco hills area.

The truth of the matter is, there’s nothing that stops disney from stopping us, they own the IP. HOWEVER, Lucasfilm annually holds a Fan Film Festival, this is what we’re creating for. This is also why KZbin is so populated with amazing Star Wars fan films. The fact that Lucasfilm has put calls out for films like this to be made protects us. Also, raising money for fan films is a very commonplace thing on sites like Kickstarter and Indiegogo. The studios tend to only get involved when the project is a feature length film and has a good sized budget raised. Again, we aren’t profiting off of Odyssey in any way. As long as that is understood, you have to go at it purely from a fan’s perspective of wanting to give back.
