Thanks for the video brother. I just put Max Advanced brakes on our Ford Flex, here in Canada as well, same thing cross drilled and slotted. So far they seem to work good.

I have 15 km, city driving, on a set of Max Brakes plain (oem style) rotors with Wagner pads I bought separately. I would not hesitate to purchase the rotors again. I ordered Pads at the same time... they'll go in when the current pads wear out.

Thanks made my decision easy. I am glad they are good because $70CAD for 2 rotors and the pads for my jeep is hard to beat. And buying Canadian to boot makes me happy.

They're not made in Canada though. Chinese made, Canadian owned branding.

I just ordered a MAX standard rotor/metallic pad combo for a mini van because the entire braking system is trash. In the past, I used Centric pads and am very pleased with their performance and quality.

2:05 Btw, you install the pads backward. The one with 3-prong clips is supposed to be installed on the inboard side and fasten to the brake piston. The pad w/o the clips or flat face is mounted on the same side facing the calliper FS III marking. 3:00 Is clearly seen

MK4 front pads both inboard and outboard have clips.. goggle replacement pads.. all 4 have clips.. look in this video you can clearly see the calipers have indents to accept the clips. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4C8aoSIftWUY7c

Thanks for this video. I ended up buying the full set, front and rear rotors and pads. Installed the rears. They work fine. I will be installing front brakes this weekend. One thing I advise to anyone who thinks about buying this. Buy the hardware kit separately from elsewhere because it does not come with hardware clips. I bought a regular plain oem solid rotors and ceramic pads. I will also give an update. But so far so good. Can't complain.

Had it for 5 months now. it's so damn smooth and good. Brake pad wears out slowly. I have 10k on them and pads still look nearly new. I feel like I can go 100k with them. But then again, I drive on a highway a lot.

I'm likely going to buy a complete set front & back for my 2008 Lancer. I'm looking at their elite EDS series ones, the Black ones & why not splurge a little extra & try there M1 pads with it. I can get front & back with pads for $180 Canadian.... My current breaks & rotors will last awhile yet, so their on my wish list till eBay offers one of those discount code promotions. I'm honestly being kinda silly for my age, but I really want to make my Lancer look like something more then it is haha, I am also going to paint my calipers red in the spring. So how are they holding up now?

Hi! I'm debating whether I should buy a set to replace my OEM brakes. Since this video was made almost a year ago, how did the brakes continue to fare, now that it's almost October 2017?
@scootsmcgavin88877 жыл бұрын
Brakes are still fine now, to be honest I had to replace the rears for no fault of the brakes my parking brake got stuck and didn’t release, I roasted the rears, front still braking fine, I should make another video
@safiraza54754 жыл бұрын
Are they good for track use? The drilled/slotted rotors and ceramic pads.
@elchupacabra997 жыл бұрын
Great review, exactly what I was looking for. Also, now I am looking for one of those Rigid impacts. My only complaint is that you filmed half the video vertically. Please don't do that. Videos are so much more pleasant to watch when you hold your phone horizontally. Even if you're watching it on your phone.

@scootsmcgavin88876 жыл бұрын
Scott Ballantyne I still have the fronts on and have no issues, maybe I should make another video, they still have lots of life left on the pads rotors are fine although pretty sure all the zinc plating is gone, I roasted the rears when my parking brake failed to release so I had to replace them, also from max brakes no issues there either

All brake components in Canada must meet stringent requirements. Rotors are just machined cast iron parts, inexpensive to make so why do people expect to pay more to get more??. Expensive rotors are just selling hype. Rust on your rotors doesn't hurt your pads and rotors, road grime/salt does. I've seen rear rotors/pads wear out and pit/groove before the fronts due to road spray from the front wheels. Usually the front brakes wear out first. There is no stopping damage from winter driving. Anyone who has a vehicle that is only driven in the summer months can have their brakes last for years. My rear rotors and pads are over 10 years old, showing some wear but functional, not bad for a summer car!

I have drilled and slotted rotors (unknown brand, they were on the car when I bought it used) on my front wheels. They are noisy, when brakes are applied they make a "ch ch ch ch" sound do the ones you have make that noise as well? I am looking at a full replacement set of max brakes I for all four wheels. I think I am going to stay with the standard flat rotors instead based on the noise alone. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks
@scootsmcgavin88877 жыл бұрын
eklypse13 hey sorry have been away from KZbin for a while, yes the noise is typical of drilled and slotted rotors, I only notice it under heavy braking tho, I’ve stuck with normal rotors on my dad and wife’s vehicles.
@eklypse137 жыл бұрын

Max brakes are pretty good. Most of the ebay sellers in canada that sell brakes kits I buy from to use on customer cars, always cheaper than anything I can buy locally. Just avoid prime choice brakes, most of them are garbage

Godd review. This is just I want to know after a longer period of usage. Seems still in pretty good shape. My concern is the anti-rust of the zinc coated. Did you pass the salt roads during the last winter in your area? Also many users complained the noisy pad.
@scootsmcgavin88878 жыл бұрын
Byte Peta I live in an area where they heavily rely on salt in the winter, I drive 150kms daily on a major highway that is salted often. Personally I haven't had any issues with noise, I have a feeling most people just swap the pads and rotors without much attention to stainless brake hardware, sliders and pins, addressing that at install will eliminate much of the noise, including a dab of anti-squeal on the back of the pads (I don't have this on this car as its not needed) but have had to use it on a Santa Fe to stop brake noise.
@bytepeta38728 жыл бұрын
I bought the F & R Slotted & Cross Drilled rotors at their office today. It's good they are just less than 10 km from my location. So I could go to check the conditions before buy. Also realized it's anti-rust and non anti-rust type available to choose. Surely I choose the zinc coated ones. The most disappointed was the quality control. There were scratch on the edge of 2 rotors. They just changed another ones to me. But just found another 2 rotors got some scratch and a little bit rust after brought back to home. I'll let them to exchange at the weekend. Well, I don't know whether it may be me too serious concern about the outlook quality or not. It's my first time to buy rotors. So don't know how's the quality of the other brand name rotors look like. I noticed only one rotor was look like perfectly new without any scratch.

Good rotors and breaks for the price. Some of the negative reviews i read don't even explain why they are bad. It's a simple don't buy comment. I see this as some noob trying breaks for the first time with not much experience. They way you have to look at is most OEM's use already the cheapest parts available, unless your buoying a performance car your getting cheap parts. These are a step up and may not be the beast available. What you need to think about is the car your going to use it as. You will not see this breaks on a BMW M3. But for the price they can be good on a low HP car.
