The Missions that came after Max's dream were more interesting than before. My most favourite ones are the missions with the Vinnie's Mobsters being in a Mob War with Vlad's men in the neighbourhoods. I used to do similar things by drawing V Tags all over the place because of that haha.

This was a great reveal done. Yes, Vlad was being suspicious in some instances (like randomly popping up in front of the Police Station), but this story was laid out such that the mind just brushes off the suspicions. I mean, Vinnie Gognitti having something to do with the cleaners was kind of a stretch (seeing that he was a wimp in Max Payne 1), but the mind mostly thinks that there would be the reveal of a new villain, kind of the way Nicole Horne was revealed. The story only gave subtle hints that Vlad was suspicious, but it didn't strike until the big reveal. The same thing goes for Winterson. There were some suspicious actions (especially at the police station), but it was almost impossible to guess that she would be the traitor in the force. Credit where credit is due, Sam Lake wrote a really good story, laying out the reveal very well.

Yeah, the thing is, they wrote the character of Vlad really slow, that his actions seem innocuous, so that there is not much suspicion until the major reveal.

Yeah, and the way she suspiciously spoke on the phone, "They're taking the fall, both of them! Payne was with her when she was arrested." Then, we didn't realize it, but that call was also probably to Vlad, saying that Max was risking himself for Mona.

So funny thing I had found about doing vlads club mission. I had (through save states) made the Cowboy ally you have in the first time around survive the entire mission. It was tough, ngl. He was even present in the cutscene right before that level ends. Since he survived, he was in the announcers table for the second time we enter Vlads club. He was making fun of Max and some other stuff, then he tries to kill him. But yeah actually good detail rockstar.

@@aragoniravioli3560 On that note, Remedy proved to all of us that with proper funding and support, a competent developer would make wonders. I mean, the physics of this game were laid out before Euphoria and RAGE engines even existed (they were first introduced in 2007), and yet, it was possible to make a cleaner fly back several feet by emptying an entire clip of an Ingram in bullet time, and for Max to see himself jumping up and down in a mirror, and this game came out in 2003.

So when you enter Vlads club this time around, the guys will not shoot at you if they spot youwhen you enter. They will give you like a few dozen seconds to act comfortable, then they will start shooting on an alert.

TBF, while this was a good game overall, I felt this to be a downgrade compared to Max Payne 1, which is still the GOAT of the franchise Part of me believes a sequel wasn’t required and the third game reinforced my belief At least it had engaging gameplay

You can feel there's overall less getting invested and commentary from Pro in this playthru than the first game and many people feel the same when they play these games back to back that the first one was better. Tho MP2 does have it's moments where Max has depression and finds new meanings in life which can be relatable.
