Max for Live patch: Nyquist-Shannon 0.1 (sampling rate / aliasing demonstration)

Visual demonstration of sampling rate and aliasing, as used in this tutorial: • Video
- draws a sine wave and shows the points that would be sampled at a certain sampling rate (doesn't actually change the sampling rate)
- phase shift to show that the sampled signal can differ, depending on it's timing
- aliasing artifacts: shows a possible different interpretation of the same sample points
- just a demonstration tool, not really meant to be a synthesizer

My engineering Teacher made a really nice geogebra animation for this, but showing it on a real oscilloscope is even better. I think not many people get the concept of sampling rates and how they can fool you into thinking you have a clear signal.

I don't understand, can you explain? What is the difference between frequency and pitch? How are you creating the sample dots?

i think the oscilloscope line stops at the sample dots for a while frequency is the frequency of the sine wave that's on the screen, and pitch is how fast the oscilloscope dot moves
