the division needs to move on, and Max needs to heal for a year or two after all of the damage he took throughout his whole career. Rodriguez needs to prove himself that he's worthy for a title shot. yes he only beat Brian Ortega, but Ortega is at the top of the food chain and quality of wins is always better than quantity of wins. Yair took Ortega out, and he definitely deserves this title shot now even if it is just the interim one.

amazing fight IQ from Max @18:05 Yair hasn't thrown a calf kick in awhile so Max throws one to goad Yair into returning it in a predictable fashion, creating an opportunity for a takedown. He got in his head. Psychological warfare On top of that, Yair is so entertaining but its not the first time the showboating has gone badly for him and there are several examples in this fight. Dude is an artist for sure, but Max's strategy and fight IQ are on another level.

astonishing max was such a heavy favorite -- I would've had yair as my pick, he's much faster, more explosive, more diverse and better striker -- and max usually always just stands with opponents. I thought max would need to involve his ground game heavily to be able to win this. Yair is arguably the UFC's best striker -- right near the top. Yair's striking impresses me more than Israel's. If you've seen all Yair's fights, I think you'll agree his striking can be phenomenal. So diverse, especially with his kicks. And everything is fast and powerful and accurate. I think people don't realize he's the best striker in the UFC, because his division is so much more competitive than 185 lb guys like Israel and the bigger guys. He's in a way tougher division -- the little guys are always more skilled than the bigger ones. Max is just really tough, and has an iron chin. Yair kicked his leg to death, Max barely reacted -- most guys would've been limping after round 1. Max is extremely durable and that's why he won this, not because he's actually a better striker than Yair.

@@thatoneguy5001 Colby doesn’t eat a lot of punches like a max Holloway or Tony Ferguson. He looks to clinch and gas you out. He’s only been hit a lot by usman and a clean shot by masvidal. Other than that, Colby’s not really a guy who takes punishment when he pressures another fighter.

This little rodriguez is never surviving in front of the great Alexander. (1) Yair is getting triped a lot whike kicking, and Alex ground game is insane he will easily butcher yair up if yair falls, (2) the way Yair drops his guard while evading is too dangerous against alex, alex will easily catch him off, (3) Alex is buffed he can take 100 of those powerless punches for brunch, unless yair catches him with a lucky kick

Spectacular performance by both humans. I was super excited to see more of Holloways ground game. It’s very rare but this proved he is a monster in every sense. Rodriquez in my opinion won no rounds but still hung in there. Respect to both
