man I remember type 1 and 2 and sometimes 3 being like stttttttt as a bell thats my memories though
@PNWTrains2 жыл бұрын
The Type 1s all have mechanical bells with the exception of 108, which has a Type 2/3 E-bell on one end. The Type 2s used these same bells originally before switching to the electronic ones, although the mechanical ones are still mounted on each unit. The Type 3s were the first to have electronic bells from the start as far as I know.

I really hope I can make it to Portland so I can get a chance to ride on the Type 2/3 trains before they are retired as they have an amazing motor sound with a "growl." I like the S70/S700s they have (5 & 6) but their sounds don't stack up with the Type 2/3.
@PNWTrains3 жыл бұрын
I hope you make it! I think their retirement is still a ways away, so you should have time. Good luck and thanks for watching.

@BritishAPT Not necessarily sure what you're talking about. Types 2 & 3 are not retiring anytime soon. As a matter of fact, they're actually modifying them all over the next several years. I think you're referring to the Type 1's, and yes those will be retired within the next year or 2.
@BritishAPT3 жыл бұрын
@@ericyoung1478 I actually am referring to the type 2/3, type 1 doesn't sound as good
@ericyoung14783 жыл бұрын
@@BritishAPT You're correct about the noise. What I mean is, you say you want to get a Type 2/3 before they're retired. My correction is, they are not being retired anytime soon; the Type 1's are the ones being retired in a year/2.
@BritishAPT3 жыл бұрын
@@ericyoung1478 I was assuming that they'd be retired soon given how old they look, but apparently they are from the early 2000s or so so they won't be retired for a bit.

We hope to Grade Separate the Light Rail Bridge Overcrossing on Division Street cause it’s a Busy Street near the Future. It’ll be a Long Term Project & Very Expensive.

I haven't heard of that but that would sure be an interesting sight.

@@PNWTrains I think he/she meant that he/she missed DC traction on the type 2s

@@ferris-fam Oh, like the new ones are AC or something? I don't know a ton about each of the different types.

@@PNWTrains yeah, all the new ones have AC traction

Be sure you don't delete this. Why? The tracks are currently being replaced with concrete ties. We all wanna see the past right? Lol. Oh that one guy at the beginning wanted to be hit 😐

Oregon Building Railfan yes I read about that too. I think they’re also getting new signals and/or a new signal house. New overhead wires too.
