I mentioned this on Grav's vid, but in your opinion could this seriously have had more than a little to do with Bergevin wanting to avoid another cringe moment at a golf tournament? Bergevin trades with his heart more than his head, or his emotions more than his intellect. He could have done worse here though.

I think this could be a factor in the decision Bergevin is tricky to read sometimes but like you said this is a fair deal if you ask me and one of the first that I can get being. You're going to have to change Logo haha

HC, do you think Pacioretty is still in his prime? In his prime he was one of the fastest players in the NHL. Not sure I see that same speed anymore. About to turn 30 years old, history of knee problems, could the reason Montreal didn't want to re-sign him be that they already see him declining and don't want to get stuck with a boat anchor contract? I remember Ryan Kesler used to be really fast, and he got traded to Anaheim around the same age wanting a long-term big money extension. Look at him, and that contract, now. Could this be the same situation? Pacioretty's production went off a cliff last year and he looked slower. A year or two before that, I remember the first half the year, he couldn't score at all, and he looked way slower. Then the last half of that season, he seemed to get his speed back and went on a scoring spree. But that's how it is with declining, injury prone players. Their knees are weaker for half the season at age 27, but they heal up and get back to normal for half the year, but only half, whereas it used to be the full season. Then a year or two later, their knees are weaker and stay weaker... forever... and they're nowhere near as fast, and you have Ryan Kesler (with Kesler it might be the hips, but same result). What do you think? I didn't watch the Habs a TON last year so curious to hear from anyone who has. In fact, in Pacioretty's prime, he played a hell of a lot like William Karlsson does now, as at wing. But I'm not sure Pacioretty still has those wheels. Karlsson is just coming into his, although he did get slowed significantly by an injury in last year's playoffs, and it will be interesting to see if that lingers into next season and affects his speed.
@HockeyCircle6 жыл бұрын
Pacioretty is not flashy you're correct and I don't like how he plays, that being said he's been top 10 in goals for the past 5-6 years now and he never really played with a great center. (maybe Galchenyuk 2 years ago) The best part of his game is by far is shot, very hard to predict for goalies and to answer your question yes I think Pacioretty can be a 30-30 guy for the next 3-4 years at the very least!

I think this is a terrific trade for the Vegas Golden Knight. They get a guaranteed goal scorer who is a leader both on and off the ice. They get a terrific hockey player in Pacioretty who just nails down a top 6 spot on Left Wing. They are in WIN NOW mode so now is the time to add a player like Max and keep in mind EK might also be on his way to Vegas as well. The Canadiens get a Mid-2nd Round pick which most likely they will botch under this current GM. They also get Thomas Tatar which Vegas paid a lot for but didn't work out so getting rid of him is very smart. Hire slow fire fast model should be used more in business. BUT where Montreal scores in this trade is landing Nick Suzuki because he is a very good hockey player in all aspects of the game. Terrific shooter and scorer who sees the ice very well and makes plays. Nick is a guy who makes others around him better. Vegas did not want to trade him away but they know that it will take a few years for Nick to fill out and get physically stronger because he is a smaller framed kid. So basically this deal is for Nick of the future for Max of the present. Both teams win here but I think Vegas WINS NOW which is most important. I am personally very happy for Pacioretty to be out of Montreal. HMMM...Don't be surprised if Erik Karlsson ends up in Vegas now.

It’s a equal trade for both parties involved. Pacioretty going to a Cup Contending team in relatively still in the prime of his career & he will finally play with a good center & he will put up 30-35 goals! Montreal get Suzuki who potentially could replace Pacioretty on the wing for the future which Bergevin is going in that direction. Alot of depth in center & wing right now in montreal. Tatar is just someone to move to make room for Pacioretty & I still consider Tatar a great second-third line winger & his experience would give a boost to the undersized players in our team right now to step up more! In all great trade

It's not a bad return. Suzuki is going to be a great player. Tatar is an easy 20 goal scorer. But I think they could have gotten a conditional 2nd, perhaps it turns into a 1st if he signs an extension with VGK. But for once I think Bergevin made a good trade😅 BTW I didn't get the notification for this vid so that's why I'm a little late

I think you might be underrating Suzuki if you think he is a decent prospect, or “could be” a decent forward. In my mind Suzuki at his peak potential could be a top centre. If his one weak point, skating holds him back, he could still perform very well as a winger. I’d be surprised if he doesn’t become at least a 50 point NHler

@castrodenavarrone6 жыл бұрын
There's not too many teams that have the assets to give up for EK. And from those teams maybe 1 or 2 can afford to take on Ryan's cap. Vegas is one of them. If they play their cards right, they'll be able to nab EK without Ryan tagging along.

Bergevin blamed the trade on Pacioretty requesting a trade. has to quit being such a coward and explain to fans the need to trade all major assets and start a complete rebuild. Maybe in 5 or 6 years they will have a great team.
