There was a sudden loud sound of helicopters and gunfire, outside, the UFE military police was shooting everyone in sight and rounding up civilians to slaughter. It was utter chaos and anarchy in the favela as soldiers fired live ammo at civilians, as did government and military trucks. Everyone in the favela was screaming and running for the hills. A lot of people got caught in the crossfire. One young man, 20-year old Miguel, was dead by the hands of soldiers. He was hit in the face with a bullet and tried to flee. He went running at the soldiers chasing him. A soldier fired at the youth, and he was killed. The young man was not a revolutionary, just a little kid in a neighborhood where they didn't know each other, but he was dead as bullets ripped and tore through his body. The man next to him was wounded when a bullet pierced his leg. Both of them got out of the way of bullets, and they got away from the battlefields that were taking over their lives.
