For the longest time. He hated that Smash Bros Melee turned in a competive fighting game. He tried to kill the scene by slowing brawl down alot. He just wanted Smash to be a family friendly party game. While I do not care for the Smash series being apart of the FGC, simply cause of it's fans. These usually are the rudest at EVO, their champions are almost always dickheads or just rude people except Armada. The fans seems to hate guys for using a winning strategy simply cause it's not the way they play or like so that means it's bullshit. Hbox playing a defensive strategy and not just nonstop attack gets booed. Okay fine. But when he wins the tourney, be respectful and give the winner the respect he deserves. But they will boo him and refuse to give him any respect for winning majors. The community is usually toxic whenever someone says anything that isn't just blind praise for Melee. The community usually is full of people who refuse to bathe or use deodorant. And some actually use the excuse that fthey can't afford to bathe everyday? That's just stupid. Wash yourselfs, you embarrass your community and that community has a reputation as being unwashed wannabe weebs that are autistic turbo virgins. And from the majority I have met at local tourneys and a few big ones. I tend to agree that 95% of them are exactly that. Not all are bad. But that's a low number. Oh and I had a guy wanna fight me for saying a bad thing against Mango. Apparently he is a living god and cannot be insulted in anyways cause it's blasphemy

It's the most valuable in general because of the sheer amount of characters they brought into the game via-the stage. They didn't cut any corners, those models look fresh and crispy clean and that takes a bit of work to do. Setting this single DLC pack up against all the cuts Pokemon SWSH made when they already have all the resources needed and would just have to take a bit of time to import them really shows the difference between working for passion and working for a paycheck.

And since they made a big deal of stating how all of their resources have been designed to be future proof, don't you think they would be easy to import? All the work they would have to do would be upfront in developing the tools to import the Pokemon, which they obviously have done. The only real work needed would be for the new from whole cloth Galarian Pokemon. They just didn't bother with it because, to their own admission, they didn't feel like it. Contrast that with Sakurai saying point blank from the very beginning that he's happy and excited to include all the characters they have-even if it's hard work-because he knew every single character has someone who loves them and wants to see the at their best. It's like night and day.

The online problem is nintendos fault really Sakurai tried his best to fix the wifi issues when the game first came out but it still was bad You cant really argue about the gameplay either,yeah sure their are some mechanics that hardcore pros or a few casuals find annoying like the buffering mechanic.despite characters like little mac are trash while characters like peach are top tier in competitive scene, the game is more balanced than any other game. Honestly if the game had better netcode or wifi connection and allowed people to remove buffering or not, i think it will make the game WAAY better even though its already amazing. Hopefully something like this happens in the future as this game probably is gonna have another 2 years of support

@@shaehankhan7912 I think shitty netcode is more the fault of the people making the game instead of the company that's publishing it, I get Sakurai is a special darling to Nintendo fans but that doesn't mean he's a perfect designer that is never wrong. The honest fact is that Smash has always had shit netcode and probably will for a long time to come, not because Nintendo is stopping them but because they're not interested in investing either the time or the resources to implementing it. Hell, we can't even get traditional fighters to have consistently good netcode, let alone one that's considered to be a party game by its director.

Terry is literally the perfect example of the saying "smash fans dont deserve sakurai" he gives and gives all he has and puts so much into these characters to be as faithful to their home series as possible.Then you still have a vocal group who find ways to complain. Terry was probably the first example. Kazuya, Sora, Banjo and others also received similar treatment from Sakurai. He really went far to ensure they played as faithfully to their home games as possible, like you said.

YES so much tribute! I'm a new SNK fan for 2 years now, and seeing Terry make it in made me go harder into KOF 98 UM and KOF2002 UM. I'm not so good, but when I beat 2002 I'll have KOF XIV and SNK Heroines for dessert. Mason I hope you can get a Switch one day, Smash is so much fun for classic gaming fans (even I can do Power Geyser more consistantly) and it has a ton of NEO*GEO games. Terry is the only character who can do a cancel. Both terry and Ryu (ken) are the only ones who use command inouts in the game to unleash an attack. No really a legit fighting game like the other popular games (mk, sf, Tekken ect) Still fun tho

I love that Terry's in the game, I knew who he was, I just hate new mechanics like the ones shown. I liked smash because it was simple, even though it has some moves that are cancellable and stuff. But then they give Ryu/Ken light, medium, & heavy moves. And then they add original inputs that create variations of the move you otherwise can't do with just a button push and a direction. And now there's moves you have to press 3 different directions for it to come out, meaning it won't come out at all most of the time. If I wanted to deal with learning those mechanics, I'd play Street Fighter V or UMvC3. They're basically giving the finger to casuals.

Modding over characters _is_ possible, but their bone data makes it impossible to change the orientation of their body frame to make them more appealing for model rigging. But the thing with speedrunners is that they practice they same thing over and over so much that it becomes rote memorization for them. Speedrunning a game is like walking. You perform an action so often that they can afford to dedicate less focus to it. Also, just like speedruns, walking usually involves as few random elements as possible. A person only has to really focus on parts where they need to determine their next move based on random or uncommon elements. In a game, it would be when the enemy movements can be randomized. For walking, it can be represented by a person walking on a path in the woods that has a bunch of pits or things that can trip you like vines or tree roots. A normal person(speedrunner) doesn't need to concentrate their legs(inputs) when they want to walk(speedrun a game); their actions become muscle memory. The rest of their brain power can be used to perceive the world around them, talking, or other things.

They made his projectile too spammable. Not enough time in between each shot. They keep making best of both worlds characters like this. He's basically better in every way than Little Mac and Ryu.

I have Sakurai to thank for exposing me to SNK. I grew up on Injustice and Street Fighter 4 (which I still like), but never found out about KoF until Terry got added into Smash. I decided to actually play a KoF game for the first time when 2002 UM was given away for free on Twitch Prime, and I LOVED it. That then sent me down a massive rabbit hole of SNK games, and it is now my favorite fighting game series. Thank you Sakurai! Without Terry being in smash, I likely never would have cared about or played this series in the first place.

I have to thank him for getting me interested in fighting games at all. I was never that interested in trying the genre even with Ryu in smash. But when Terry was revealed, I thought he looked so cool and had so much fun playing him. It was a result of those things that convinced me to give other fighting games a try. And with the several games and series I've tried since, Terry is still one of my favorite fighting game characters.

Decades possibly. One of the inspirations for Smash is that he beat someone's ass so hard in KoF95 that he felt bad about it. As a result he made a fighting game with reduced command inputs so it could be more accessible (which he then added back in 20 years later lol)

I’d you pause at 27:48 it says at the bottom for the cameos “Developing them takes a lot of time, but it’s for the fans” That right there shows how much they care. They will take so much extra time to develop even something as small as a cameo appearance just to make the fans happy
