Max Towing with a 2022 Powerwagon Hemi 6.4 2500

In this video I max out my 2022 Ram Powerwagon's towing capabilities on a trip to Glamis, CA. The toy hauler info is below.

I have a 2018 PW. I added firestone 5k bags. I tow a 2021 Stryker 2613. 2022 Kawasaki krx 2 seater. No problem. No squat. 65psi and we're rollin. 11k lbs

I have the 2020 in the same color . FYI the axels and the frame are full on RAM 2500 trucks . the only thing that reduces the payload is the dual rate springs. BTW you wont stop that 2" drop without airbags or upgraded springs. Thats your cushy ride part of the spring. I have no problem with using a full ram 2500 payload and towing capacity. based off of a 2500 ram with 4x4.

Weight distribution hitch with sway bars helps alot . I have a 2022 ram 2500 pull a 27 jayco Octane toy hauler. Very similar size and Weight. Using an Equalizer hitch .

Beautiful color! So a set of bags are cheap and help so much. The payload rating is nonsense on these. Just go by the rear axle rating. Get on a cat scale as is and make sure you’re not exceeding the rear axle weight allowance. That’s where DOT 👮‍♂️ would get you. And a WD hitch will help get that tongue weight down. I almost got one of these for my Airstream. Would have been great! MPG not so much tho. Ended up getting such a great deal on a new 3500 Cummins 4x4 dually that I picked it up and almost never regret it. But sometimes I imagine a truck that off roads, tows, and can daily. Even with full Carli suspension I can really only accomplish one of those tasks without worry. Great video thanks man!

About 4 weeks ago, I realized I got tired of the front RAM badge in that silver, so I made it matte black. It pops so much better. Good lookin truck man. They only had 5 colors on the lot when I picked mine up and unfortunately this color was not there :(

Videos like this have helped me make an important decision. I'm retiring this year and will be buying an off-grid travel trailer since I want to explore the back country and hopefully find some good fishing spots at remote lakes. I was thinking about trading my 2wd Laramie in on a 4X4 Laramie but really want the extra off-road capability of locking diffs and a winch if needed. I had concerns about the PW's ability to tow a trailer but it looks like that will be no problem so I'm headed to the dealer to look at Power Wagons this weekend.

If anything at all, just add some stiffer springs and some air bags and she’ll be good to go. I stopped putting money into mine since I knew it was gonna be gone.

I have a 21 power wagon it’s not hard to max out the towing on them they can actually tow a lot but your sitting on the bump stops and it’s not really safe to tow like that. A set of air bags really helps a lot if your towing a lot with your power wagon. But if you need to tow a lot just get a regular 2500

Are the amber lights just yellow lenses over clear? I want to order but I’m afraid I might regret amber from behind the steering wheel. Looking at your truck they look badass though.

All of my ambers are an actual Lense and not a cover. I do not normally run the fogs on my truck on the highway. I use them for trail/offroad running and I have used them through mountain passes and narrow lonely roads. I am just cautious since they are the squadron sport's which are brighter than SAE.

Add Carli Denomintor system for 12k. 😂❤ The R2 system helps with towing up to 15k lbs and payload up to 2.5k lbs. Cool stuff. Cool coffee hat! I wanted to open one of those coffee shops up in North Texas. ❤

The PW loses a ton of payload which is basically your issue here, I bought a 2500 Ram 4X4 Laramie for a slide in camper (2k wet) and I'm going to add bags & upgrade the rear track bar before I pick it up.

All said and done, the truck made it to and from safely! I def tested the max capacity but when I purchased I did not consider any of this stuff.

It’s the same as a regular 2500 in every way except the soft suspension. Just throw some airbags in the back and it will be safe

Hi you didn’t use an equalizer hitch witch I think would have solved your squat problem! I have 2023 Power Wagon coming in 4 weeks and I’m pulling a 22ft Outdoors RV and I have an equalizer for it.

That might help with sway on highway but the fact is that the suspension is still soft. The distribution itself is a factor as well within the trailer but this video highlights what the MAX payload and towing looks like.

Very nice Ram 2500 brother. I miss the sand dunes in Cali but I couldn’t take the crooked politicians there so I left. It’s awesome to see people like you still have a good time even with the high $6.50 gallon gas prices . Is the dumont dunes still popping off?

Yo I have the same truck and I added air bags and daystar cradles and I tow over the limit but it handles it great… don’t recommend towing over the limit of coarse but once it’s bagged it’s like a regular 2500 except it rides better unloaded

You could also go a different direction and instal Timbren’s on the rear, excellent when towing heavy in the PW. To give an idea of their effectiveness, snow plow companies install them on their pickups with sand/salt spreaders and plows to eliminate squat front and rear in Alaska and Canada. They are not hindered by weather and don’t blow like airbags do😎👍 Awesome looking rig man, congrats!

@@combatoffroad I did Thuren and Fox in the rear, as well as the Timbrens, towed a 13K trailer from AZ to AK without any issues, and zero squat😎👍 Gotta’ love the PW, it’s a great platform to customize for your needs, and you can do it without sacrificing any of the off road capabilities. I'm looking at a 2022 PW with 12k miles for $61k...everything is great except for payload, 1,100 lbs. is less than my '20 RAM 1500 🤦🏽‍♂️

That's the problem with PW. It tows enough for most people, but the payload is horrible. 700 lb tongue weight subtracted from your max at 1100, gives you 400 lbs for people, gear, etc. Basically not enough for 2 adults and any gear. I've been looking at a PW for years, but will likely go for the 2500 Rebel now, just got the payload.

That’s because the people buying these trucks are buying them for the off road capabilities and towing is only occasional.

$73k is a lot of money but it was the right truck at the right time for me. I was only towing a few times a year and we mostly loaded the bed up to go on trips to the mountains which is where the truck excelled.
