F1 Racing magazine recently spent a day behind the scenes with Max Verstappen on a visit to the Puma headquarters in Germany. Max has really really changed my opinion of him for the better . Max is a lot calmer and mature in his racing this year. It's feels like Max is part of furniture of F1 now . By the end of this year Max will have done over 100 races in F1 at 21/22 years old. Kimi could break Barrichello's race start record next year - i'm pretty sure Max will pass Kimi (who has raced against both Max and Jos) and Rubens if he stays fit and healthy . I'm pretty sure he'll win titles as well. As an Englishman I can't wish Netherlands too much luck against England in a few days though.

@@Markuden PG is still young, he can still grow and that is usually not a gradual thing, often this happens in larger steps. Just look at Botas2018 vs. Botas2019, during the winterstop he made a big mental/psychological step forward. Something similar has to happen to Gasly.

The Honda is good, not Mercedes or Ferrari good, but it's good, AM and RBR have alot of work to do in improving the versatility of the chassis and aero, it's still one of the best on the field but they can do alot better.

I like Max but he hasn't got a pole position in a car that has been capable of pole positions, as Daniel proved. Also I don't buy into the 'Max dominated Daniel' cool aid from last year. Daniels reliability made Max look a lot better than he was, just like how Rosberg is a world champion because of Hamilton's unreliability in that year. With all that being said, Max is still young and the potential is definitely there... It's how many world championships he wins, not if he wins any.

In the races he would often be faster than riciardo (lap times in general). He also outqualified daniel, he just did not get a pole. So more often than not he was faster than daniel, its just that the one time he could get pole, daniel was faster.

His race results were also better than daniels (again in general, though riciardo obviously had bad luck for multiple races, though max had a bit of that in the beginning og the season as well). So it might be a bit much to say dominated, but max was definitely beating daniel on multiple fronts.

Doesn't matter if you get pole or not, as long as you win the race and he can certainly do that. The car has only been capable of pole 3 times, and twice Max crashed out, the other time he struggled a bit in quali after being quickest by miles the rest of the weekend. Neither are likely to happen in the future. But Max's strength is not qualifying, it's racing.

Max schooled Dan in Quali last year and whenever Dan started in front it never took more that a couple of corners before Max already passed him . Also most of the time when they drove in a race Max was already in front before Dan's many misfortunes . Dan is a hell of a racer though and I I feel he made a big mistake leaving RB for Renault .

Sure he is fast but put him in a midfield car like a Haas or Torro Rosso or a Renault and i doubt that he will do much better then other midfield drivers. The car is a HUGE part of the succes of 44.

Not 5 titles, but a couple did fall from the sky, actually. I'm not trying to take anything away from Lewis because he's absolutely brilliant, but he's not at 5 time world champion level. He has never had to drive a bad car, and he hasn't always performed well, even with competitive cars. 2008 was the year where everything just went wrong for Massa (Not talking about Brazil. That was fair). Last year Valtteri could have been leading the championship after round 5 had he been half as lucky as Lewis is, which would have affected the way the championship evolved. In 2014 he had no competition because nobody had a car that could compete with the Merc and Rosberg wasn't up to the challenge, so he basically cruised his way to that title. I actually think Max would beat Lewis in the same car because he's the better racing driver. He has shown it in underperforming cars many times. However Lewis would probably have the upper hand in qualifying; there's never been a driver who's better at qualifying than he is.

I dont knock a driver for being young and hungry, but max better be focused on simply getting his team up to speed than considering challenging the front runners, He's the type to think he's the best if he beats a guy like Hamilton or Vettel in a race. no max... those two are not just Championship winning drivers, those two have more than three championships. you got a long way to go to be considered in their light. its not just about a win, or being alittle quick here and their those two drivers have bested the stats of almost all other drivers in F1's history. what do you have under your belt?..... right.

BUT that said, he thinks he's on equal footing as they are (which to each is own in terms of self worth) but i like other drivers who came into the game not frowning upon the greats but simply going for the goal with respect for those before him. Alonso Vettel Lewis all respected those who achieved more and at the same time made a mark for themselves by simply winning. Max is driving great, but his attitude is more than a bit snarky for someone who has barely won a race.

If the real fight ever comes, Lewis will destroy Max. Max has yet to make a pass with one of the top cars without either making contact or pushing someone off the track, and it’s never his fault even if it is always clearly his fault. Lewis would out class him in driving and then switch on the mind games and destroy him mentally. All Max has is that chicken shit double moves under braking he does.

Lewis kicked Max ass with damaged tyres. It took Mad Max 6 years to figure out that you can't just crash your way through to championship...yet again he tried at Monaco and failed. To top it off it was his 4th time being punished for unsafe release.

Max locked up and couldn't avoid contact with Lewis anymore which resulted in Lewis taking a free shortcut. The only thing Lewis did was slow Max down so Vettel and Bottas could catch up and screw Max over. Aaaand this was on Monaco where overtakes are rarely happening so... Wouldn't call it owned.
