Today i bought my first ticket to a concert ever, its gonna be sisters of mercy. And we absolutely rocked this corrosion chorus.

Oh.....The Sisters of Mercy! I am Italian, I grew up in the '80th with them, Bauhaus (my favourite group), Joy Division, The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees and the New wave, with Depeche mode, Ultravox, New Order, New Model Army, The Jesus and Mary chain and so on...we were very few boys listening those kind of groups in Italy, at least in Milan...how many memories...I remember the old interview (and it is also written on their site), where Andrew Eldritch talked about his hatred for the media that had defined them as a gothic group, in fact, for him, they were at last, an "hard rock" group....With that voice, it is a duty to sing gothic...but, am I wrong or there are few of "First and last and always": it misses "Walk away", "No time to cry", "Possesion" and one of my favourite, "Black planet".....but it is ok, it is a very good video....Grazie per averlo postato, ho visto che sei italiano ma ho scritto per tutti, mi sono anche iscritto al canale, già che c'ero...ciao.

The are they/aren't they thing about goth, punk, rock has surely taken on a life of its own... I think THE goth band is Bauhaus, while the Sisters wish they sounded as much or more like Motorhead as they do Bauhaus. Eldritch, Von, whatever... These aren't sad songs. There are no sad Sisters songs except Emma, and that is a cover. The Sisters are about celebrating yourself... The shit you have put up with or went through, the bullets (partners etc.) you have dodged, having an exemplary taste in music, that the world is screwed but YOU probably won't be blamed for it. Probably not. Tune in, turn on, burn out in the acid rain.

With Giving Ground technically to isn't a cover, the Sisterhood came into being as Craig Adams and Wayne Hussey partied ways with Andrew and the Sisters and was going to call their band the Sisterhood. I have a bootleg of an early show as this band, Andrew released Giving Ground 7" and subsequent 12" to stop this and during a concert not long after the Wayne and Craig Sisterhood dropped the lights and the Mission signage went up to signify the change

Haha true :)
@andershjemdahl65472 жыл бұрын
Why on earth would they need a record contract?
@jonhansen20692 жыл бұрын
I was saying that they of all bands that still play, really DON'T need to bother with getting a record contract, although studio versions of the new songs would be quite nice, but as far as I have seen, with the ticket prices and merch prices, why bother? I am not sure if you read the interview with A.E. where he said that if Donald Trump was elected to office that he would do another album? Compared to some bands, they make pretty decent money, or so you would think, but then I personally do not know A. Eldritch. I was under the impression for some reason, that Andrew Eldritch had some major issues with a certain label in the past, and with fulfilling a contract, etc. etc. A good contract though, CAN help, I live in the entertainment capital of the world, so I have seen what some bands that do not have ANY help that a label and contract can provide, go through, and it can be difficult, very. For many reasons, but I am in no way saying that SOM do.
@andershjemdahl65472 жыл бұрын
@@jonhansen2069 I hear ya {I also live in LA), but what I'm saying is that they don't need a record contract to put out records, should they choose to do so - they already have direct channels to dedicated fans, who would buy anything they put out. I'm also aware of the rumors of AE being stuck in a contract and hence unable to release anything - not sure if it's true, but it's been a persistent rumor over the years ever since he broke with East/West.
@jonhansen20692 жыл бұрын
@@andershjemdahl6547 Nice to hear you live in L.A. we have the BEST shows here and fortunately EVERYONE plays here, and yes, That is what I have always heard too, I had heard from a friend who works in the industry, that one reason that no record has been released is because of an unfulfilled contract for another release, and that is why he has been against it for so long. Not sure with which label or who though. Yes, of all bands SOM is one of them that I am sure nearly sell out every major show that they do. And the last time I saw them, they most likely made a killing on merch alone. I bought a redord on Discogs that I believe only a few were printed, it was like print on demand with books. Mikey Bean's Phantoms on the rise of the L.A. Punk scene must have done amazing! cheers!
