@@khale4nia The Spurs were double teaming sometimes too, the reason they were hesitant to do it too often was because of the shooters the Rockets had. The Admiral was incredible. He was great on both ends of the floor. Had a great mid range jumper, solid post game and was an athletic beast. He was also alongside Dekembe Moutombo the best two rim protectors of their era and among the best shot blockers. The admiral would be the best player in today's game.

It makes me think just how spectacular of a level Hakeem was playing on when he dominated the series that year. David Robinson is one of the greatest players I have ever watched nonetheless. Incredible player and stand up guy.

In the playoffs players normally have to elevate their game if they want to win a championship. Robinson was an outstanding regular season player but there's more pressure in the postseason and they have to adjust more often against tough defense.

Hakeem had Drexler who is an nba legend, he had mr. Clutch Robert Horry who is an nba playoffs legend, he had Kenny the Jet, he had Sam Cassel, and vernon maxwell. That was a stacked freaking team. Robinson had.....yeah. It was never Robinson vs Hakeem put people yet to say. It was Robinson vs Houston.

@@thecensoredmuscle563 I believe the Spurs were the #1 seed that year, so I'm not sure who's you can say they had nobody. Dennis Rodman is a hall of famer, Sean Elliot was a very good player, and they had a plethora of good roles players like Avery Johnson and Vinny D. Drexler was no longer in his prime, but he was still a very good player, I agree. Hakeem, like Robinson, never had a young star to grow with. The Admirable was absolutely sensational. That's how good dream was in that series. To dominate the league MVP was just extraordinary to watch.

@@losdawg6265 they were #1 seed solely because of Robinsons domination. The guy was getting double and tripled teamed and still putting up those numbers. Also everyone knows that Rodmans time with spurs was his worst and he hated it. His 5 points per game did absolutely nothing against Houston. Elliott was solid but injured. Drexler was still in his prime, against spurs in this series he averaged over 20 points and had multiple double doubles. Horry was also beasting it up as usual in the playoffs. And hitting game winners against spurs in San Antonio. Sam Cassel also averaging like 15 points a game and even getting 30 in week 5. Kenny the jet doing his thing also. The fact that a team that was just Robinson going to the conference finals and if not for Horry hitting a game winner it would have gone to 7 games. Is amazing.

@@thecensoredmuscle563 I don’t disagree that Robinson primarily role players, but Hakeem did too. The whole reason they traded for Drexler was due to their floundering most of the season. Their third best player in Vernon Maxwell quit at the beginning of the playoffs. Drexler was still very good, but he was not in his prime. Prime Drexler was dropping 28 per game not 19/20. It was two great players had role players of a supporting cast. Neither had a Kobe on their team, let’s put it like that. Hakeem was just incredible that playoff stretch. It wasn’t robinsons fault. If Robinson couldn’t guard you, NOBODY could. He went ok to see Shaq, that’s how locked in he was. Didn’t matter who he went against that year.
