This man has been living in Singapore for 30 years. A lot has changed in Indonesia since then. Moreover, he has applied for Singaporean citizenship twice, rejected. Essentially, he has 'converted,' and there’s no longer any 'Indonesia' in his heart. Clearly he is no longer Indonesian. It’s simply unfair to ask him about Indonesia and expect him to criticize it saying all bad things about Indonesia.

@Bethany_Wongso20 күн бұрын
@dore Not as easy as you say. First, you’ll never get the appointment slot online, and you can’t make the booking via any immigration offices. Your only option is to engage an agent that will charge you around 2 million for non e-passport, while the actual price for non e-passport is 350k 🙄

@@Bethany_Wongso Agent ? It's easy just go to immigration office by your self. 1. Renew non electronic passport cost 350k for 2- 6 days process 2. Lost passport cost - fines 1 million - same day process 1 million Btw Losing a passport is a sign that someone is in trouble. The passport is usually in a small bag that is always carried with you so it cannot be stolen. The investigation into the matter reached data from Interpol, local police and others.
@Bethany_Wongso20 күн бұрын
@dore you can’t even get anything done at the immigration office without a prior online booking confirmation. This was the case for my family members, who were turned away despite explaining that no appointment slots were available on the system. To make matters worse, losing a passport is not treated as an urgent issue requiring assistance but is instead viewed as negligence on your part.

As someone with an Indonesian-Dutch background who grew up in Bali and now lives abroad, I’ve observed that it’s not uncommon for Indonesians to avoid greeting each other when meeting overseas. While this doesn’t apply to everyone, several factors might explain this behavior. Culturally, greeting strangers isn’t a widespread practice in Indonesia, and this habit may carry over abroad. Some Indonesians may feel uncomfortable or awkward initiating interaction, while others are focused on personal goals and less attentive to their surroundings. Fear of rejection or the perception of being intrusive might also play a role. Additionally, the sense of community, like the “kampung” spirit in Indonesia, may not be as strong overseas, and some may adapt to local norms where greeting strangers isn’t customary. Regardless, these tendencies vary widely, and understanding individual differences is key. Sometimes, a simple hello can go a long way in bridging these gaps.
