If I’m not mistaken this is the second of these reels you’ve worked on, incredibly dirty, do these reels have this reputation ? I don’t think I’ll ever buy one, and there not cheap . Thanks your videos are quite informative.

That's a very nice reel... Dennis I just got a Penn 309 level with a Berkely T-90 10'6" ..I can't find any info on age of rod do you have idea on it's age

I don't because Berkley made rods for a long period. Your rod is mismatched to the pole. If the pole has a fiberglass blank it is the 1970s. Graphite came along in the 1980s/. Does your rod have metal or plastic line guides? Plastic inserts were the 1990s

Yes - the reel is close to $300. IT still needs to be maintained or it will falter

I can recommend using brake cleaner instead of penetrating oils, that stuff will remove basically any dirt on reel, even without brushes or paper towels. Of course, You have to be careful with certain rubbers and plastics when using brake cleaner.

I have used that, and carburetor cleaners and others and I prefer the penetrating oil - Thanks for the tip
