È la scena in cui Elliott scompare improvvisamente e viene ritrovato da Lucas nel suo luogo segreto che solo lui conosce a parte Elliott. Lì, si promettono di vivere la loro storia "minute par minute", senza fare programmi o progetti su di loro. Solo stare insieme e vivere il momento presente, così da affrontare insieme senza paura la malattia di Elliott. In precedenza, Elliott era tornato a casa dei suoi genitori da giorni dopo essere stato trovato in giro nudo di notte (dopo l'incontro romantico con Lucas alla chiatta). Lucille quella notte aveva detto a Lucas che Elliott è bipolare.
