Old post, but anyone watching later, the cheek riser on the little kit is removable. It has two height settings if you don't have an optic.

TJ Jones Thank you! It’s cheap and easy to do but there is more than one way to skin a cat. If I didn’t already have the one I’ve got I would enjoy getting the new version like you did. Enjoy!!😉

Matthew Cherry Yep. Could be a money maker for someone. I have enough projects already. Projects take away time from shooting.

The tube does not collapse into the stock, right behind the safety there is a gap, that's where the movement happens. The spring is in the tube as well as the pistol grip. The cheek slap comes from the shotgun moving back and shocking the stock into your cheek. If your mom has fixed the cheek slap for you that is awesome. I'm glad you found a great fix especially for cheap.

Joseph Martinez Well I’ve never seen any of these other than the one I’ve got. I know they made several generations of this design and if I’m not mistaken the one I have is one of the earliest. When I rest the butt of the shotgun on the floor and push the butt stock tube collapses at least 1/2” into the buttstock right at the spot where my cheek rest is without the cover on. It also collapses at the spot you referred to and that’s the most logical place I agree. I’m guessing they changed it so later designs didn’t do that for obvious reasons. Kind of funny the makers of this didn’t think it would be a problem.

Just ordered the shell holder /battery storage cheek piece adaptor and will try it out using ghost sights. If unsatisfctory will implement your suggestion, figure out the correct diameter of pipe, thank you.

Max Headspace9mm Would it be possible to set up a ring site or red dot on a shotgun that outlines the pattern? Or would there always be some strays?
@MaxHeadspace9mm7 жыл бұрын
Jacob Staten Yes you can! But you sometimes need a long section of top rail to get the eye relief correct. You shoot at a target to observe the shot spread and move the red dot (for example an eotech has a circle ⭕️ dot reticle) away from the eye until the circle is the same size as the shot spread on the target. Cool thing is as the shot spread increases with distance you will notice the circle stays pretty close to the correct size in relative distance. Try it. Simple but it works! There will always be strays though. Ive also seen a laser that gives a shot spread beam but I can’t remember who makes it.
@jacobstaten23667 жыл бұрын
Max Headspace9mm sounds good. I thought about a flashlight but that would be a narrow beam and I worry it would rattle loose. Thanks for the advice.

I was.... thinking about getting this stock for a sfs tactical shotgun based off 870 reciever.
@holdencaulfield82394 жыл бұрын
You invention is cool and everything , but you didn’t really talk about the stock in any other way. Or Maybe I missed some things. But: How much did it reduce felt recoil? Is the length adjustment range good? Quality craftsmanship? Worth the $?
@MaxHeadspace9mm4 жыл бұрын
It basically turns a punch into a shove. All the recoil is still there it just spreads it out. If you’re looking for a pistol grip arrangement for your shotgun it’s a pretty good setup. Good quality and design except for the really terrible flaw of biting the shooter in the face with each shot. I would recommend it. I’ve got 8 different shotguns and this one just gives a different shooting experience. Not better just different. I’ve got a Mossburg 590 with a regular stock and between it and the one in this video it really comes down to the pistol grip adjustable buttstock for this as why I like it. Like an ar15 it’s good to be able to adjust it. I don’t really need the shock dampening but I like it. And I don’t really notice that I shoot any better with this over my regular 590.
@brianouthwaite51177 жыл бұрын
Does that prevent it from crunching down like it's supposed to?
@MaxHeadspace9mm7 жыл бұрын
Brian outhwaiteb Not at all. It functions as designed. The cover I made just covers the dangerous part to keep your face out of the works. It collapses underneath the shield.

The problem is your aiming. You point with a shotgun. It’s user error. You haven’t been taught well. Shoot some trap & skeet and you’ll start to understand the concept.😀
@MaxHeadspace9mm6 жыл бұрын
Bill Badoni I have shot some skeet and I really enjoy it but I am not near as good as I would like to be. Am I aiming or pointing incorrectly when I sight down the barrel? I have a double barrel side by side that has a center rib. I look down it as if it’s a runway. Am I wrong in this? Tips would be much appreciated😉
@guerom13676 жыл бұрын
R u saying that it's better not to aim with the sights but to just point?
@MaxHeadspace9mm6 жыл бұрын
Guero M I think Bill Badoni’s point was that hitting your target with a shotgun is a different way of sighting than a rifle. That’s why most shotguns only have a front sight. It’s not that you don’t need a front sight or don’t use it at all. It’s just there to attract your attention to the end of the barrel. But if he was saying what he was saying as a result of my video I don’t know how it correlates. I’m sure he was trying to help and I appreciate that but the topic was how to keep this stock from injuring the users face. And my first fix was to use the product made by the Knoxx company for that purpose and how it’s not really an effective fix because you are simply trading one problem for another. Anyone who uses shotguns for hunting or trap shooting knows that it’s important to get your line of sight as close to the bore as possible. So I’m not really sure why he thought I had been taught wrong. Actually I haven’t been taught anything. I’ve never had lessons. I just try to figure it out as I go. But as I understand it aiming or pointing a shotgun is simply looking down the barrel at your target. Simple as that.
