Excellent performance! Actually I have a CD of his performance of these pieces when he was 11 or 12 and it's unbelievable. I think probably nobody can believe that a 11-year old boy plays those hardest pieces of violin like that. Maxim Vengerov is definitely genius.

@@jean-pierremurrli3072 You must be confused because the audio quality is so terrible. Vengerov doesn't "butcher" anything, ever. Some things he may not play to your taste, but he never "butchers" anything, let's be clear about that.

Midori makes it sound like a simple folk tune played on two violins, it's so effortless it makes me laugh. Vengerov plays it well but he plays it like a virtuosic piece, Midori makes it seems so simple.

I think this is my favorite piece on the violin, but I like the version from Hillary Hahn better, because with his version, it feels a little bit like he rushes through the whole piece
@PranavViswanathan5 жыл бұрын
I agree with you on that. I think Vengerov is a spectacular musician and one of my favorites but this feels like he is playing too technically, not lullaby-like. If you like Hilary Hahn’s rendition, I strongly suggest listening to Midori’s version!

those left hand pizzicatos actually made it better. the way it's written originally is with sticcato. a little less flashy.

You can find him doing the real scales on his recording he did when he was 12 I’d you’d like it’s on KZbin
