Popcorn balls were always in our stocking at Christmas. My Mom would do red and green ones. My Dad would do the forming for my mom because they were hot. You brought back a memory to the 64 year old lady. 😊

I am also a maximalist who loves to decorate, especially with vintage and spooky but never scary decorations. I am originally from Indiana, and my grandparents had the house on the corner of a well loved neighborhood for decades and decades and my grandma was known as the Halloween Lady who gave out the best treats each year, she looked forward to seeing the same families come with their own children and then grandchildren. She often had over a thousand trick or treaters and loved them all. I'm happy I found your channel ❤

Hello Ann, I, too, love the fun, and old fashioned Halloween decor. It reminds me so much of my childhood. We had elderly neighbors who made popcorn balls each year. They were always wrapped in waxed paper. Thank you for the reminder of a sweet memory. Take care. :)

It did spark some memories!Actually I’m 65 and remember those old vintage Halloween decorations she had- the really cool paper mache pumpkins and paper cats and skeletons. Thankfully they make really good reproductions and your decor reminded me of that. Boy! I wish I had those pumpkins now! They probably are worth a fortune!I decorate for fall with a tad of Halloween. Unfortunately we don’t get trick or treaters as we live on a busy street. I have a little reference for my grandkids too!So glad I came across your channel. Love your style!❤

I love halloween, but agree with you. I don't like scary either. It can be just as much fun with cuteness as with all the gore and scary. My husband made me a 6 ft witch out of plywood that we put out each year and I made the embers for cauldron to sit but she is a not scary witch and trick or treaters are not afraid. Enjoy halloween

I absolutely love your channel, especially the nostalgic decor and recipes from when we were kids! I grew up in a very rural area in NE Washington state. Neighbors could be a mile or more apart so when mom took us trick-or-treating she had to drive us. My parents knew all the neighbors so we never had to check our candy and we were allowed to dig into homemade treats right away! We would get homemade frosted sugar cookies shaped like pumpkins, little paper bags of candy and the holy grail...Mrs. Sage's homemade caramel corn! It was light and tender and melted in your mouth. Every Halloween my mom made popcorn balls wrapped in waxed paper. Your recipe inspired me to make a batch of my own and it took me right back to Halloween in 1970-something. I found some retro Halloween decor at a local collectibles shop and I'm going to start transitioning to the vintage Halloween style from now on. I love it! ***(What's the measurement for the vinegar by the way? It is mentioned in the directions of your recipe but i didnt see how much to put in..I guessed at a teaspoon? 😊)

We are team cute here also. I just don’t like the scary. My boys make fun of me and I’m ok with it. Once they have little ones of their own they will understand. I hadn’t thought about paper candy bags or the giant Tupperware bowls in years. My mom’s was yellow. I think we may make popcorn balls this weekend I haven’t done them since my kids were tiny and my youngest is 21 so it’s been a long time. Thank you for the great memories and ideas!
