To maximise area between an and b - a and b have to be the roots of the given quadratic equation 3/4 -x - x^2. Now integrating between the roots of the quadratic = 1/6 (a-b)^3 = 4/3 where a and b are the two roots of the given quadratic equation. (This is a standard formula in area under the curve)

Nice alternative formula is ∆^(3/2)/6 A^2 where A is coefficient of x^2 here ∆ = 4 , A= - 1 hence area is 8/6 or 4/3

Sorry to ask under this video but this question is from DPP 3 of inverse trigonometry, can u explain where I'm going wrong... If sin^-1sin(9)- cos^-1cos(15) can be written as a pie-b then a+b =? sin^-1sin(3 pie-9) - cos^-1 cos(15-5 pie) 3 pie-9-(15-5pie) 8pie-24 a= 8 b= 24 a+b =32 but the answer given in DPP is 31. Someone please tell me where I'm going wrong. Thank you.

Definite Integration is not the area as we usually think But it is the algebraic sum of areas (taken with proper signs) so it can be negative. So I think the minimum can't be commented in this case
