Sequencing is one of the many skills professional Pokémon players have mastered. Playing cards in the right order can have a massive effect on the game state when combined over the course of the match.

And this is part of what makes PTCG tick for me. This sequencing decision making, alongside figuring out what and how your opponent plays, is very compelling. When I found that out, I was so happy about it and could see the fun of the game during the game.

Great video, sequencing has been one of the most difficult things to get right in tcg for me, and this kind of videos actually help a lot

The Lugia example is very good. I was playing on stream in Barcelona and I've played Research before using Archeops. I couldn't draw ANY of my energies because I wouldn't be able to attack with Tyranitar. Fortunately, I didn't draw any energies and was able to attack but after rewatching the game I saw how big of a misplay this was. Sequencing and understanding how to do it is very important.

Hi I don’t know who you are but this helped a lot when playing lost zone. I feels like sequencing the deck or something. This helped me hit a 250 kyogre!

Thank you for this. Honestly, this guide and deep dives into deck logic is what's missing here in the TCG content space. Keep up the great work! Look forward to more content like this.

🙏 thank you! this is what i’ve also thought, have found that most of my learnings in the game is not public info in the pokemon world… however in chess it’s all over!

Great video and way of explaining. I think this video would benefit with more visuals. I loved the parts when you physically showed the sequencing with Garde ex deck.

Pokéstop will be forever a nightmare to me. 80% of the time just discards supporters and energies. Even in Chien-Pao, where you play a bazillion item cards, you can bet my Pokéstop will discard Irida/Baxcalibur/Chien-Pao

Definitely great video .I wanna play a lost zone deck but the sequencing scares me cause lost zoning something that can win you the game down the road is maddd scary lol.When someone explained the lost zone sequencing if you play pokestop 1.pokestop 2.concealed cards 3.colress 4.flower selecting Lugia is easy just primal turbo before you play a draw supporter or iono or if you have a lot of energy’s in hand but you need them in deck you iono first than primal turbo

Yeah I could make an entire separate video on lost box sequencing haha, it’s so much to think about during a game I usually don’t play it to regionals because i burn out

one thing i don't fully understand is drawing before searching. Yes, if you search, you have less of a chance to draw into what you need, but if you searched it out then you don't need to draw into it anymore
@jgrimesey11 ай бұрын
If you want multiple of the thing, like with Chien Pao you always want more item cards - let’s say you’re going for rare candy bax. If you concealed cards into rare candy, you can irida for something other than rare candy. So basically you’re making your “extra card” chosen via irida instead of random via top of the deck. That is usually why you draw before search. Again with the comfey battle pass example - sometimes you have enough basics in your hand and you don’t want more. So then sure, get them all out via search then draw.

i thought you were supposed to colress first over draw because you can see a higher amount of cards at once and build your hand accordingly? like colress you gain 3 cards in hand vs flower selecting is only 1
@jgrimesey11 ай бұрын
You Colress before Comfey because it’s harder to easier decision. It’s easier to pick 3 from 5 than 1 from 2 - more information. Likewise you get most information from concealed cards - you’re picking zero cards so it’s very easy to decide because you don’t have your decide lol

That example at 4:50 reminded me of a game i was playing on ptcgl the other day i went first got all 4 flower selects off and drew into a ditto while having a switch in hand and by the time i had gotten to the ditto i forgot i was going first so my cram was active because opp only played one mon for active after i found out i couldn't attack i passed an idk what happened but opp just immediately passed his turn literally giving me the game it felt like he was tho cuz i had an absolute banger of a first turn with a colress in hand for next turn and a sableye on bench and would have been ready the next turn

Pokestop or Greninja first in Chien-Pao? Assuming I need a bax
@jgrimesey11 ай бұрын
If you’re going for Bax I would Greninja first so you can pull Irida from deck. Last thing you want is to mill your Bax lol

Greninja for sure.

Wait y’all call it sequencing? Lmao. It’s just called “thinking” Pokémon doesn’t involve much thinking (comparing to the other tcg games I’ve played) y’all had to come up with a term for the simple term of thinking. Lol that’s crazy
@jgrimesey11 ай бұрын
Sequencing is used in Magic the Gathering, and other card games too. Is that word too complicated for you? Seems pretty straightforward to me.
@angyman22711 ай бұрын
sequence. / (ˈsiːkwəns) / noun. an arrangement of two or more things in a successive order. Probably should have googled what the word means before commenting, didn't "thinking" very well there did you

Lost box is just one of those decks. I can't stand it. Seems easy to play but hard to master. But it is still so powerful without mastering it.
