This video has this feel to me like I'm watching a much more established KZbinr; the cadence, music, icon, jokes, and overall vibe feels like he's been doing this a while and I really enjoy it. Love your style and sound. Subbing for sure.

I just have to say your logo for your channel being a dog wearing knight armor and a playing with a PlayStation controller is probably one of the best images I've ever seen. But I'm gonna sub for sure, for someone with such low subs your videos are super well done, good job!

Loved Maximo back in the day and it's sequel, I recently retried playing it and found myself thinking "How the hell did I beat this as a kid?" I still like to listen to the OST when playing Dark Souls.

U can save in between every level just pay 100 coins
@DragonKnightDragonborn9 ай бұрын
i have to give correction on the save problem. There is pool of teleporting and saving which is i believe 100 coins or a diamond, saying "You can save only at the boss" is somewhat true. Which mostly ingored the fact there was a save feature in the game but as much the same grape about the save feature. Lucky in Maximo VS Army of Zen did rework a bit and...the last of the Maximo series. Wanted point this out.

Yep, was going to check the game/FAQ myself to confirm it, but the post boss one is a free save, so it seems like a godsend. First time you play, you aren’t necessarily going for the bonus chests and collectibles, as if you do, you’ll quickly have more than enough money to last the whole game. Particularly via some of the harder to find secrets of the Underworld area and similar?

This was my favorite game growing up to an extent I actually burnt through 3 copies of it, each breaking quicker than the last. For whatever reason my fat old PS2 eats discs with a blue back like copy paper, they'll work maybe once or twice before the machine stops reading them entirely. As for the difficulty, I want to underline that Maximo isn't just "of its time" hard, Maximo itself is just hard as hell. I'm not of the personal opinion it's due to any single thing, but moreso a blend of little things that only cascade as it continues. I will say tho, I did at least get further in it than I did in Pac-Man World 2. Maximo can at least hit someone standing right in front of him, Pac-Man either has to bowl into them or crush them with his dumper and both handle about as well as they sound. Even that being said, I can't say I dislike that game either. Both Maximo and Pac-Man were among my favorites back in the day, and still are to this day even, but I've always had a bit of a masochistic streak in myself, so take of that what you will.

You should play the next game in the series: Maximo vs. The Army of Zin. It was a much better game with all the gameplay mechanics and camera controls the first was missing. The levels have a lot of cool variety (and give me a “Dwarven Dwemer” vibe from Skyrim). It also ends with a killer cliff hanger that will never be realized because Capcom canceled the planned trilogy.

The first one was great the sequel was a step down felt like every other video game with there 50 hit combo's the hits were more impact full and took thought

I got this game when we bought a Sony Playstation 2 game console. The game's graphics was nice, but the difficulty was a bit too hard compared to Ghouls 'n Ghosts. I have tried again so many times until I reached the last level. Still, I enjoyed going through the levels of this game and learning the various combat skills. 🙂

Is Maximo a 3D Ghost and Goblins? I think I heard of this game before. These guys never fuck up. Oh they have with making a DMC game that nobody asked for. 1:05 The AVGN did mention that they finished having sex. 1:42 Well, somebody has to do it. 5:49 Is your head on backwards? 7:56 What an awful save system.
@dx-dragon43995 ай бұрын
The save system is not like that u can save after bosses for free or save at the pond's anytime between levels for a 100 coins he was wrong u don't have to beat a whole world to save
@onsnoreleave867418 күн бұрын
I agree the game's platforming is absolutely beyond punishing, but you can save the game in the hub worlds and the combat problems you were having really just comes down to using the wrong moves for the situation. It seems like you weren't even aware of two of the most useful moves.
@mickael48618 күн бұрын
Not many hard games like this, I bother to beat. But I beat this game twice. It's one of my favorites. If you can't take the challenge, its sequel, Army of Zin is much more forgiving. Both are grest games.
@mickael48618 күн бұрын
oh, and the sequel has camera controls.

“You can’t control the camera.” Yeah, it’s a PS2 game. “Unforgiving for no reason... “ and “... godawful controls... “Yeah, it’s a _Ghosts ‘n Goblins_ game. I honestly don’t know what folks who review games are expecting when giving no consideration to the era, machines, genres, and series’ from which games they review come. Did you expect it to be easy with flowing controls and the kind of camera control you see in later PS3 games? 🤦♂️ It’s not about “gittin’ gud”; it’s about understanding what to expect, given all the context cues, not expecting that a game made in the early 2000s will play like a game from the 2020s... 🙄
@Lanslet9 ай бұрын
Maximo's earliest release was December 27, 2001 (Japan). Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy came out in December 4, 2001. Fully 3D, open world, and fully controllable camera. You underestimate what the PS2 was capable of. I'm not going to excuse a game's technical shortcomings just because it comes from an established franchise. If it has positives, I'll point them out, if it has negatives, I'll also point them out.
@jebronlames59979 ай бұрын
Ghost and goblins controls were awesome and a lot of games from the ps2 era had cameras you could control. Idk what that person is talking about.
