I do this. A small knife and Victorinox in my car in an Altoids tin with a few other essentials. Works great. Hi Dominic, thanks for mentioning clipping a flashlight to your hat. I recently started wearing a baseball cap and completely forgot I can clip my flashlight to it 🙄😋 Also the grip6 is awesome. I’ve had one 6 months now, still baffles me that it works soooo well. The easy of use, microscopic adjustment capability 🧐 and the low profile make it the best belt I’ve ever own.
@guy3nder5292 жыл бұрын
These videos were quite interesting and really gave me some very good insights on my EDC. I came to defining my 5 essentials as the 5 pieces on which my everyday functioning depends: 1. IEMs (and I guess my phone as a music player). Music is easily my most essential "can't live without" daily carry and the ability to disconnect or even just calm down a bit is what keeps me sane in my occasionally stressful daily environment. I use the Dunu Titan S with a TRN 6 core cable for having a mic (which if anyone has a better mic IEM cable recommendation please let me know). 2. Watch. A time piece on my wrist is beyond just knowing the time for me. It's about the ability to micromanage my time. Whether I'm preparing in the morning, about to go anywhere (especially via public transport), at home cooking a timing sensitive meal or any performing any other task/mission with a hard time limit the watch is invaluable for me and my functioning. I currently have the Casio MRW 200H watch tuned 1 minute early and it works perfectly for everything I need. 3. Tissues. It's simple, really. They are god for all sorts of minor emergencies and inconveniences and are mostly good for stopping minor bleeding quickly. as someone with frequent nose bleeds I often regret not carrying a pack. Any small pocket 10 pack supplies me for several days. 4. Phone. Some might consider it a "cheap" choice for being carried by everyone nowadays and the fact I kinda mentioned it at the first piece but even I have to admit It's totally essential nowadays. I don't even like it very much, but beyond carrying all my music I use instant messaging and phone calls no less than any other idiot out there, including but not limited to in a professional setting. my more personal need for the phone is notes for writing down lists and thoughts as someone with poor hand writing (I still usually carry pen and paper). My current carry is a very worn Xiaomi Redmi 8 which once it inevitably dies I hope to replace with something mostly more rugged and potentially smaller as well. 5. Tool. I put this one last because, outside of work, I don't often pull it out of my pocket. It is however still an important piece for me and one I shall include even if just for liking it alone (even above a light which I carry just slightly more often). I am not specifying multiotool, knife or any other EDC tool type, as I do not it matters as much exactly what you carry as it does whether you carry it at all. sure, there are cutting tools, grabbing tools, driving tools and so on, but I believe merely having a sufficiently convenient piece of metal in your pocket gives you plenty of capability in and of itself. Currently I have a leatherman crunch with me, which I consider to be the probably the greatest multitool ever (or at least untill I get a Surge), and I plan on starting to get into knives soon). One issue I have with multitools is a deeply concerning tendency to lose them. so far I lost an unnamed Leatherman PST clone, Leatherman Rev, 2 Skeletool CXs, had a Leatherman Crunch confirmed hijacked right under my nose, and a Victorinox Pioneer. I can't just stop getting multi tools and I've been tying small carabiners on lanyards to all my multitools which helped quite a bit but I am still distressed by how often those things get lost for me. Other than these things I of course carry keys, legal documents, tobacco, satanic symbolism, torch etc. but non of those things I would consider essential (even my tobacco isn't used on weekends).
@stefan63162 жыл бұрын
Also very practical and beside torch, knife and pen. Think there are so much more products than the typical EDC "tools". Could you explain "satanic Symbol"? Like a challenge coin or jewellery?

Hello, Dominic - great video! I agree that the most powerful item in your EDC arsenal is pen & paper...there is nothing like it...what you write when you see it will remind you where you were when you wrote it & how you felt about it at the time...it will sometimes further give you newer ideas...it is refreshing to see there are folks who still appreciate the use of the written word...kudos!

I use my cell phone to take notes. I totally disagree that a pen & paper is the most important tool to carry. For me the most important tool that I use the most day in & day out is by far MY CELL PHONE! You can text notes in the phone or record your voice or even make a video. You can have someone else even leave the note. It's generally way faster then writing something down. You can easily back these items up, share them with other people, & schedule them into use very easy! I don't carry a pen or paper & NEVER have the need for them in my EDC adventures. They're a total waste of time & space!!! Now BEFORE someone brings up the whole "Buh-but cell phones run out of battery so they're unreliable"... We're talking about Every Day Carry here NOT a bugout bag, & NOT a survival situation either. People seem to forget this when they say you'll have a dead phone in 3 days & so it's useless. I charge my phone every night & it's easily able to be used throughout the day without ever needing charged. Your EDC items should represent what you use every day that can be replenished on a daily basis of those items are used up or need maintenance etc!

Do you have any experience or opinion on how well the grip 6 belts would do as a CCW inside the waistband holster supporting belt? I'm just not sure it's solid or stiff enough or that the weight of a CCW wouldn't be a problem for the buckle and friction mechanism. Thanks!

They sell different thickness webbing and I haven't tried the thickest "work strap" (yet). The standard strap will warp a little where the weight is IME but it's just a "memory" bend and the strap is still as tough as when I bought it. And it's easy to replace the strap without replacing the buckle. I can say the buckle itself will take the weight. Mine has never slipped when I've had multiple things clipped on and under it.

Similar here. I am not a hat person, so I'd say my 5 is a Clinch Pick fixed blade. I conceal carry, but I'll admit that it is not a turn back around must have every place I go thing (should be? sure...but in reality, nah). Belt was odd. I admit I always have my belt 100% of the time I go out, I just wouldnt call it EDC.....though, it kinda is, huh? So Id replace that with my watch (G-Shock Rangeman with leatherman tread as a band). It is simple, rugged, SOLAR, and the band is an array of last-ditch 'where did my pants go' set of basic tools. Flashlight, YES. Pen/Paper, everywhere I go. Multitool: Gerber legend 800...20+ years and a warzone later, still 100% fine on all tools with NO upkeep outside blade sharpening (mostly pocket carry). Plier and Scissor springs still perfect. EVERY day carry. I am gonna look into the hat. I dont always have one, but when I do it is for something work related or outdoors and I like the pockets a lot. I'll give the GRIP6 a go too. I run gunbelts mostly, but that one looked like a very nice light option. great stuff, man. Thanks for sharing!

But you should try the groove belt, I think it’s better than the grip6, I’ve tried both and I’ll use the g6 for variety, but the groove is an amazing locking system and it’s better for carrying. Ofc having an even thicker belt helps, but if everything is too heavy, then I’ll wear the philster enigma, but also when I wear joggers or anything without belt loops. I hope you try it and I’ll probably buy that hat, really enjoyed this video and all your others. God bless you bro
