Great tip, @nosemangr ! Do you know of a way for the popping to also be triggered by a collision? For instance, when one kernel pops, it hits another one which makes it pop, etc? I could see something like that being very useful for popcorn and several other applications.

Particle-Particle collisions are not supported but you can use the Predator Prey modifier like so: 1. Set popped group as Predator and and the unpopped group as Prey. 2. Zero out Pursuit and Flee strengths so that the modifier doesn't influence their motion. 3. Set Contact Behaviour to Convert Prey and link the pop group into Group to Convert to.
