Let's compare two of Maxpedition's finest offerings. The Kodiak Gearslinger against the Falcon 2.

The Gearslingers do make great camera bags with the right insert.

I have a Monsoon Gearslinger as my current EDC and I love it. I agree that the Gearslinger series is a great concept but does put all the weight onto one shoulder.

Funny, I have both of those bags as well. I started with the Falcon 2 and absolutely love it. Got my Kodiak about 7 months ago for the simple fact that it has one strap and is easily swung around the body. However, it definitely puts a hurtin on you if you are carrying a load through the park all day with the family.

yeah, it definitely does. Kinda disappointing cause it's such a cool concept.

HarleyWood23 Agreed, it's a really cool bag, well laid out ... just a whole bunch of hurt if you load it up to0 much (and it doesn't take much for it to be too heavy).

You just answered my question. My family and I are going on a cruise, and I was considering buying this as my EDC for my son's stuff. I've been on a cruise with my Falcon and it held up great. Plus I got a lot of 'cool bag' comments. I guess I'm sticking to Falcon 2 for this cruise as well. Thanks for the review!

I'm in a major dilemma. I keep wanting a kodiak for EDC purposes as I think it's the best sized sling pack on the market, but I too worry about weight distribution and if it's a problem, a two strap bag would be better. But then the thing is should I get a two strap Maxpedition bag? Or something with even more molle on it like a 5.11? If I choose a 5.11 Rush 72 as a bug out bag, then I can still get a moab 10 sling bag for work and just attach it onto the rush similar to a USMC ILBE system. Ugh, first world problems.

Lol. Yeah. Tough problem to have. I recently switched to this Vertx EDC Courier. I couldn't be more happy with this as my new EDC and work bag. Check it out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpu2Y3ueeZmFo7s

A while ago, I was driving one day and suddenly out of nowhere I get this SHARP pain in my neck. It was my pull workout day and I did shrugs, but this pain was only on one side. I blame the Kodiak. Go with a 2 strap system if you plan on carrying for more than 1 minute. If you plan on going from car to office, office to car, or plan to carry weightless stuff like a hat and a windbreaker, then by all means, but once the kodiak gets to 15lb, it's actually VERY dangerous b/c who knows where you'll be when the one strap pain hits you. Falcon II seems ideal to me, if you want this style of pack for EDC (the waist strap will save your life).

So, do you think a Jumbo Versibak would better suit your needs?
