@@GSJ_TV It's $600 for 1.5 tb more. Yes, it's absurd when a high quality 4tb nvme is $300. But if you really are keeping this for years, 512gb really isn't enough. I never had more than 32gb of ram before now, an I never had 32gb before the m1 max. But yet, I have 32gb used basically all of the time.Even if 512gb feels ok today, it'll end up being half operating system by 2030. You also get dinged on speeds if you don't get at least 1tb. I'm upgrading to a laptop after happy years with an M1 MacMini w. 16GB UM. My dilemma was do decide between 14" and 16". Since I'm buying for the future money is not an issue, not that I'm loaded in any way haha. But I've decided to go with 14" with this risk of louder fans. Let's not forget that the reason 16" is quieter is both the size of the box but also bigger fans, so all in all, the portability is important to me and I ordered a 14" with 48GB UM, 14/20 config efficiency/GPU cores and 1TB SSD. The price does go beyond and above the 1.999 Max is talking about here, but I think it's worth it. This will fly me to the moon in my workflow with recording and video/photo editing.

I agree entirely that the base model M4 Pro is the best bang for your buck. I got it last week (14" black, 24Gb RAM, 512 Gb SSD). And...boy, oh boy! This thing is an absolute powerhouse. I mean, I'm upgrading from a 2019 maxed-out Intel 27" iMac, so there's a world of difference for me. Don't make the mistake of getting the high-end M4 Pro though (14 + 20 cores), it's not much faster than the M4 Pro base model and the price bumps is just not justified by the performance. If you need a lot of extra power, go for the M4 Max instead.

@JJ.Actual3 күн бұрын
@@sandsoftime9761 it’s difficult to calculate the actual performance based off benchmarks as they only give predictions. I saw another video where the 14c variant ran cooler under benchmark with the same fan noise than the 12c counterpart. Supposedly, battery life was better too but that makes sense as more heat can drain the battery faster. What didn’t make sense to me was how the 14c ran 2c cooler than the 12c. But this could also be the silicon lottery as well. In the end, I just spent more than I needed cause I know myself. I won’t look back and be like “dang, I should have saved 200.00” but can see myself saying “if I only spent 200.00 more” TLDR: it’s your cash, spend as you wish but my advice, don’t go into debt for something that’s obsolete by the time you get it as tech moves so quickly

@@JJ.Actual yeah understand benchmarks are not really representative of many real world use cases etc, but given it is hard to run those tests, as a baseline I’m happy to take into consideration controlled benchmark tests to inform my decision Really interesting to hear of the 14 core performance running cooler - Can you post the link to that video? Does anyone have technical info on the architecture of the different chips? For me, it’s not about cost, it’s about longest battery life and sustained performance in the 14” chassis. I don’t need the GPU’s in the Max chip, and would imagine it would really struggle in 14”chassis, and have discounted that as an option.

I understand that you keep making these same trim level comparison videos to help existing user to decide if they need to upgrade. But typically if you have one MacBook it usually last for 4-5 years before upgrade. For new customers, they would like to see the comparison between options that currently have similar price. For example, M3pro is currently discounted to $1499 and new M4 is $1599 (we already passed the thanksgiving deal). With the similar pricing and possibly similar performance, which one is the better option? Hello everyone, I have a mid-2009 8/256 GB MBP and I don't need a lot of power. The MBP M4 seems to me to be sufficient, but I hesitate to wait for the MBA M4. What makes me hesitant is the better autonomy of the MBP, but as the years pass ultimately the battery will have to be replaced. The second point is the screen: is the price difference between that of the MBA and the MBP really worth it ? I mean I'm often on my screen for several hours in a row so will the MBP screen tire me out less ? Third point: even though I don't use the HDMI ports and card reader on a daily basis, thinking about having a dongle when I leave home bothers me a little. Last point: RAM... 16, 24 or 32 GB ? With AI and applications that always require more memory, I don't know how many GB to take to keep my Mac as long as possible. Many thanks for your repply !

What is your use case, what about portability? I have had both 14” and 16” and the difference is pretty noticeable to me, in weight and size. The m4 will be faster and will do most tasks with ease. If I was making the decision I would go the M4
@FindingMovieGems2 күн бұрын
I’m doing Video editing stuff so I think the 16” would be better but I don’t know if I should decide it only because of the display size, I don’t really care about the weight, but I don’t know about the updates in the future or if I should even worry about it

In Poland basically 11 300 PLN for either TWO configs: M4 MBP with 32 GB of RAM / TB4 and M4 Pro MBP with 24 GB of RAM / TB 5 - (both 512 GB of storage, nano coating, 96 Watt charger ). FU Apple.

What happens to heat and fan noise in low power mode? I would love to see a a follow up video showing what the improvement is like on low power mode. Apple keeps increasing the TDP each year so the performance gains make sense. But adjusting for this, I wonder how much of an improvement simply the newer architecture makes.

Thank you Max Tech. I have a M2 Pro 16" and I am still satisfied of this Mac, but I regret I didn't buy a computer with 24 GB RAM last year. Anyway, I think my M2 Pro is slightly better than the M3 Pro, which was a downgrade.

I do travel for a living but I only consume basic content. I did purchase a M3 Air 15" for $1044 new from Best Buy on a Black Friday deal. Should I return and wait for another sale on the M4 Pro 14"? Trying to see what's best for my use case. Thanks!

@otwer222 күн бұрын
Your use of honest is a bit over the top, the problem is there are no good review from max that compares them in M4. I think there are reviews he did with M3, and there are plenty other KZbinrs you could search out that does ram comparisons. For 90% of the people 16 or 24 is going to be fine.
