MaxxAir Fan Install: Step-By-Step FUN & Super Simple Tutorial

Ventilation is essential for comfort and safety in a campervan. Installing a MaxxAir Fan was one of the first things we did when building out our ProMaster campervan, and we are so happy we did! In the video, we'll show you exactly how to install a MaxxAir Deluxe 7000K rooftop fan.
After using the fan for several months we can confidently say that it is a great product!

Thank you for the video, it was super helpful! Just a tip, when I did this I drilled 8 holes, two near each corner but left the corner in tact. Then I cut the lines between the holes, then cut out the corners last. It reduces the vibration a lot.

You don’t even understand how you saved us! Here we where trying to install the fan, couldn’t get the holes to line up for the last 4 screws… we kept trying until 11PM, where almost ready to throw everything away.. it’s supposed to rain tomorrow at 7 in the morning 😂 I started to watch videos to try to figure out what we had done wrong.. reading the instructions and nothing helped. Found your video and you said those magic words “the internet told me that I have to move these up a quarter of an inch to get the holes to line up…” 2 minutes later the fan was installed and we can go to sleep knowing it is on! 😂😂😂😂 thank you!!! 🙏🏽 fingers crossed that we did everything else right 😅

It was very helpful. My husband tried to not use some of the tips that you gave and then he had a do it again and do exactly what you said so it would have been easy if he had listened the first time, but that's how things go I love him still and we appreciate your video.

When installing the fan on my Chevy Astro I'll mark out where it goes from under the roof and drill the 4 corners from there and then jigsaw from the top. The Flex Seal looks interesting. If it comes in white I may go that route or use lap sealant or a marine product. By the way they don't make adapters for the Astro so it will be layers of butyl tape. Thanks for posting.

Really Fantastic Video! I want to install this MaxxAir Fan in a similar space in the rear bay of my new 2023 Transit Trail 148"WB non-extended van, but the space between my ribs on the roof inside the van in that space is only 13 3/4 ". Is this going to be able to squeeze in?

Good video , I just cut the hole with a grinder way easier , and less vibration . then leaf blow off all the swarf .

That definitely could work. I didn’t have a grinder at the time, so the jig saw work well for me.

TWO WONDERING SOLES Nice installation video but you skipped the wiring, and that's where I need help, if you care to share more, I'd greatly appreciate it! Where do you bring you main wires in your ceiling to connect to the wires of the fan? Did you have to drill through the trim ring and bring the fan wires out into the ceiling?

No need to drill for the wires, they slide behind the garnish trim ring and into the ceiling and then down into your electrical system.

Thanks for the video. Did u have issues lining up the holes on the fan with the flange. Did you have to push the fan down hard?

Yeah if I remember correctly, you have to pop up the little tabs on the flange just about 1/8” so that everything lines up correctly.

When it's winter, the cold doesn't come inside through that fan?

It really doesn't. In fact I think the heat from the inside slowly goes out that way. My father-in-law has a 14"x14" piece of reflectixs velcro-ed up to cover up the fan when it gets cold to prevent heat from escaping. I should really make one too!

I ordered the wrong adapter for my sprinter van. I watched a number of videos that only use butyl tape. Do I really need the adapter? I have a Maxi air 1500 deluxe.

I liked using the adapter to make everything flush and I would recommend it. I guess you could use butyl tape but I would worry about leaks if not fully sealed. Let me know what you end up doing.

What did you use to cut the garnish trim ring?

I used a fine blade on my jig saw, but you could use a hand saw or even tin snips if you had them. Just make sure the edge is not sharp when you put it up in the cavity

Can you attach the custom template to the roof with butyl tape instead of the 3M window weld?

I bet you could do that, as long as you place a good layer of lap sealant on top of everything once you’re done.

How did you wire it to power?

Hey Daniel, the fan comes with wires to hook up to your 12 Volt system, which is connected to a 12V Blade Fuse Block. That's how it is connected to power.
