Wow. When I do those I only pull back the floor cover after removing the passenger seat. Then dog house. Then I pull back the crossover tube a bit, remove egr valve and then the rest of it you pretty much got lol I've done 2 already since my company doesnt order inserts anymore :(

At my place at work, our fleet did not want to put money in those engines anymore. So, I am glad that those trucks are gone. But to gain few points of experience worth the hustle. Hope you keep learning other new things and thanks for watching.

Guys,do not spend time and money on replacing EGR or EGR cooler, it cost fortune, just EGR cooler is $4500 +labor, and it can get bad in year or two again.. to replace EGR you need to disassemble half of truck cabin and it will cost a lot . There is a guy in Philadelphia,PA who is doctor for this, in 2-3 hours he deletes EGR and DPF systems by software so ECU does not recognize this systems any more, just drill DPF and you are good to go. This is making your truck so much more reliable, no more derated engine,forced regen, filter cleaning,filter replacement and all thise costly shits. Turn it off once for ever and your truck will go like rocket.. They are also doing chip tuning if you want few extra HP (i suggest no more than 10-15% increase so we are on safe side) Your truck will be like brand new.

I just got a used cooler for 300$ doing work myself I’ll get the seals from international and bam. People just need to learn some basic mechanical knowledge

Only need to removed the passenger seat, shifter, dog house, and drain the coolant. Leave the coolant crossover on and remove the heat shields and the short egr inlet pipe. Unbolt the long crossover tube from the valve only (so you don’t risk breaking bolts off in the exhaust manifold) and pull the coolant fitting on the front of the valve and undo the line under the valve and slide it right out.

You didn't have to take apart the dash. Just removed both dog house shrouds

Where are the dog house shrouds located ?

Underneath the dashboard, around the center area or you can look the right side of the accelerator pedal, it is a big piece of plastic that cover all around behind the top rear engine area. To protect and dissipate the heat under your feet and inside the cab.

How did you diag the EGR valve? My truck is blowing black smoke under load, after about 20lbs of boost.

I used the Navistar Diagnostic Tool (NAV software). If your case is black smoke that could be because the EGR valve is stuck open, if Check engine light is ON, that could be the cause. Remember, this is my opinion and black smoke relate issues, there are couple more than just the EGR valve itself, if you want to exactly know what is going on, take your truck to a shop for a proper diagnostic and troubleshooting. In my case mine is leaking. Truck runs great but it eats coolant. Doesn’t burn it in cylinders or anything and doesn’t even affect the way it drives. Stupid egr coolers

You think that Was bad remove the entire egr cooler. Should of done that anyway that far into it. Probably plugged

It depends if the EGR cooler is plugged then you have no other choice than remove it, but to remove the EGR valve you did not have to remove it. Well, that is the learning curve with those engines, if you already removed the EGR ask the customer if he wants to inspect it or replace (my personal suggestion replace it), I hope you can finish soon that job and thanks for watching.

@@scatter-vision21 with coolers egr valve afi service and filters removed for service like 6 hours unless below tube bolts break then that takes more time
