MaXXXine is a 2024 American slasher film written, directed, produced and edited by Ti West. It is the third installment in the X film series and a direct sequel to X (2022). The film stars Mia Goth, who reprises her role as Maxine Minx, alongside Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Halsey, Lily Collins, Giancarlo Esposito, and Kevin Bacon. In the film, Maxine sets out for fame and success in 1980s Hollywood while being targeted by a killer.

I agree with you'll 100%. I just did a review on this movie on my channel. This movie could have been better. It was lacking horror and thriller. The beginning was great, but the middle and end wasn't good at all.

I'm not into horror movies much but a decent psychological horror/thriller works for me, dark humour too. Pearl was a great movie, I watched that first, X was surprisingly good, but hey! If it wasn't for the first two, I may not have bothered to watch all of MaXXXine. The original vibe worked, pity they went for something off track with MaXXXine. You two nailed it 100%

I saw this movie on Tuesday at an early screening. I actually liked MaXXXine the best of the three movies. But I wasn't a huge fan of X or Pearl and I liked the fact that this was more of a crime drama. Also I graduated from high school in the '80s and I worked in a movie theater for 8 years during the '80's and early '90's, so this brought back a lot of memories for me. It was more the styling and the nostalgia of this movie that made me like it. The story was quite lacking in many areas and I did not care for the ending either. But as I said I did like it better than the other two however it is definitely NOT a horror film. I did think that the things that you mentioned: the overacting and the makeup being so obvious were intentional... to be a throwback to that type of '80s film. I did like Elizabeth DuBicki, as the Director, a lot in the movie. And yes, the style was very reminiscent of DePalma (although I can't recall if there were any split screens as he was so famous for including in his films).

We are total 80s girls too. We wanted to like it so bad. We were just so disappointed. But we are happy it has an audience and I’m a huge MIA Goth and Ti West fan so looking forward to their next projects

Oh no! X and Pearl were amazing. And the third chapter in a trilogy is even more crucial to get right because I mean hell, that's the end. That's how everything wraps up. Scream 3 comes to mind when I think of weak "final" chapters. The first two were great but Scream 3 fell a little flat and at the time that was supposedly the end. I'm sorry ya'll didn't like it but believe me, you're not the only ones who are disappointed and confused.

It’s so funny, I actually watched it again and enjoyed it more. I definitely loved the cinematography but still think the acting was silly at the end. But I guess it was meant to be? 🤷🏼‍♀️ So glad you loved it tho!
