Maxine auditioned and got the part as a blonde which is probably a dig at Pearl since Pearl hated blondes and went crazy knowing/thinking Misty got the dance part being a blonde. I wonder if that was the thought process with that scene.

The fact that young Maxine dances exactly how Pearl dances in her audition makes me think a part of Pearl has always been a part of Maxine.

I think Pearl got pregnant from the movie dude, Harold (her husband, not sure if that was his name?) made her put it up for adoption, and that's the murderous Maxine's father.

Maxxxine just felt like a homage to Brian de Palma movies, especially Body Double. It even has a Frankie goes to Hollywood song playing in a strip club.

Why referencing a real person during that time ( Richard Ramirez aka the night stalker ) as her dad! He was old, Richard was young back then! They could created another serial killer character!

Go watch "Blow Out, Body Double", Fade To Black" and other sleazy early 80's horror movies. This movie is a big sloppy wet kiss to Brian Depalma" it's a masterpiece.. Plus the whole Satan hysterics at that time was all over the new. My friends and I were denied access to the cinema to see Silent Night, Deadly Night. When it it came out. Not all of us were 17. Only time we were ever denied entry to an R rated film. Why? Because protesting was going on outside the big cinema. Having lived through all of this in the 80's I thought this film was fckn brilliant. The ending scene was a tribute to the ending of Friday the 13th pt. 2 The Kevin bacon role is the part Dennis Franz would have played in Depalma films. I'm going to see it a second time next week

No it was of the actor. I couldn't find any online image of the actor in that role so used an image from another film just to make it recognisable for you guys.

So she's praised as the final girl who had a bad life, after the actual murderer she was in Pearl. Gtfo. I was waiting for her to get hers in the end, but people love seeing bad people win I guess

It should've been able to stand on it's own, despite being the third in a trilogy, with some flashbacks for the audience that hadn't seen the first 2. Didn't even know about the first 2, cant have been that great! Lol I'm not a movie person, but had no choice during lockdown yet didn't hear even a whisper about Pearl or X. Terrible review, didn't really analyze 'Maxxxine' and I don't understand it any better, just blah blah blah.
