I'm amazed that you already have harvested peaches. Ours are just half way through, even the same climate zone, but probably different microclimate. Great video! How your Santa Barbara peach is doing now?

My multi-grafted peach is doing really well and developed quite a bit of fruit this season. The Santa Barbara peach seems to be doing fine, but no blooms so far. It has put on a good amount of healthy looking leaves, but not a single bloom. This time last year it was already developing fruit. Hopefully, I’ll get some blooms soon. Thanks for visiting!

Thanks for the tour, really enjoyed it! We are also in SoCal, zone 10a. The leaves on our mature fig tree and 2 mature hachiya persimmons are quite curled, any idea what can cause that? Anyways - here's our fruit tree status in case anyone is interested: 6ft tall jujubee (Bare root) - just emerged 4 days ago, planted 2 days ago. 6ft 15 gal mexican guava - planted in feb, lots of flowers; bare-root 5 gal santa rosa plum - planted in feb, 1 plum, already had several flowers & lots of leaves; goji berry 5 gal - planted in feb, growing like crazy; mature apple - tons of apples; apricot - no apricots last year, 4 small ones this year; lemon - lots of lemons that have been ripening over a few months; fuyu persimmon - tons of persimmon; fig trees - lots of figs; hachiya persimmon - lots of new leaf growth, no flowers or fruit yet; pomegranate - tons of flowers and quite a few pomegranate forming; mandarin orange - bought in pot 1 year ago, gave a few fruit last year; planted in feb, now has lots of new growth and lots of flower buds; kumquat - has been producing kumquats 24x7x365; smallish chinese bitter orange - lots of thorns, no fruit or flowers yet; dragonfruit - 2ft tall, planted in feb, no growth or change yet (?????)

Wow, that is an impressive collection. I have not had a problem with curling leaves on my persimmon or figs. Without seeing the trees first had it would be hard to say what the problem is. Assuming they are well feed with proper fertilizer and adequate watering, it could be some sort of fungus. Question, do you spray your deciduous trees when they are dormant? The reason I ask is that I used to have a problem with my stone fruit trees (nectarine and peach trees). They used to get peach leaf curl until I started to spray them with a Dormant Horticultural oil when they were dormant. Since then I have not had any issues and they produce health leaves. I spray all of my deciduous trees once they go dormant. You might consider giving it a try. Hope this helps and thank you for watching!

I love your fruit trees! I recently moved to zone 10a, Whittier from higher desert 9a and brought my Li and Shanxi Li Jujube to this new home but I read that they are rated to 9 planted zone and that they need chill hours. It hasn't grown much but just put it in the ground this spring. From looking at your Jujube it seems to be doing fine in this zone.

Greetings! As per nursery info from where I bought my jujube trees, both varieties (Li and Lang) are rated for zones 5 - 10 and require at least 150 chill hours. Our zone is a low chill area, but we get enough chill hours for these trees. I got a really good harvest last season. This year they both produced several blooms so it should be another good season. Thank you for visiting and best of luck with your fruit trees.

hi 🤗 i have a 2yr minnie royal in the ground and just bought a new maybe 6 month royal lee that i transplanted into a 15gal pot. my original royal lee in the ground died off above the graft. the local nursery has no warranty or guarantee once trees leave their property (i wont be shopping there again). after almost 2 months, everything looks good. i really like your idea of netting over the trees. i have tulle that i hope will do the trick when the time comes. tfs

Sorry to hear about your royal lee. I also would never shop at a nursery that doesn’t have any type of warranty whatsoever. That does not sound like a reputable nursery.

Uncle, there is a big difference between zone 10 in SoCal, versus zone 10 in NorCal. In Chinatown, the temperature is 55 Fahrenheit (average). I am in zone 10, but your zone 10 gets a lot warmer. Most, if not all, of what you have growing, could never grow here.
@Zone10aBackyardOrchard2 жыл бұрын
Didn't think there was that much of a difference. We do have fairly mild temps out here.
