Dr. Eddie Kasner, Outreach Director, PNASH Center presents a talk titled Sprayer Technology Adoption and Related Skills (STARS) Study.
Labor-intensive fruit commodities put farm workers and their families at disproportionate risk of pesticide-related illness via pesticide handling, drift, and the take-home exposure pathways. This project leverages a broad network of partnerships to evaluate emerging pesticide application technologies and educational programming as interventions for breaking pesticide exposure pathways in Northwest fruit farming. In the coming years, farm workers and managers will share their expertise and ideas related to sprayer technology adoption, career development, and implications for pesticide safety and health.
