Gaston County is still working to assess damage from the May 8, 2024 storm. Here are some facts we've gathered over the last two weeks:
🔹 Gaston County Office of Emergency Management and Fire Services has identified more than 300 damaged homes and buildings, with more than 100 considered to have major damage/total loss.
🔹 At the peak, nearly 50% of Gaston County households were without power. Within two days, more than 95% of Gaston County had power.
🔹 Nearly 250 Gaston County employees jumped into action in the aftermath of the storm. This number does not include the many EMS, fire, law enforcement officers, and other first responders, as well as municipal employees from every city and town in Gaston County, who worked through the storm.
