The fact that the interviewer had to step in and defend him from his own “wife” was so sad.

Yea. You could clearly see the interviewer losing his mind listening to Mary Kay’s predator logic

This interaction is everything you need to know about her and their dynamic. She lived to manipulate and gaslight this poor guy. I hope he’s better now.

I always find it funny when people say oh he went back to look after her in her last year as if it speaks on her character. Sorry but that says more about him than her.

Yes it really does! He did not have a good childhood and has said he felt like she was the only one who cared about him. He loves their daughters very much and he raised them. She was of course there for it but I believe he cared more for their girls. When they were grown he split from her. He is the one who worked hard to get the order for them to not have contact once he was an adult lifted so they could raise their girls with a mom and a dad because he did not have that growing up. Once the girls were grown he split from her. He went back to care for her because he felt like he should. Your kids other parent being ill and possibly dying hurts your kids. Of course a good man would go help care for his kids mother. He is a good guy from what I can tell. She on the other hand has faced God and what happened with her soul was between her and God.

I wonder how she’d feel if a 36 year old man did what she did to one of her 12 year daughters… Poor guy, seemed like he never grew up. Not blaming him, he was the victim but it’s just absolutely terrifying how kids can never be safe. It’s so important to be aware of everyone. People like her make it hard to trust anyone, kids are supposed to be feel safe when they go to school, but I’ll bet there’s so many predators that seem so normal in school. I can’t imagine being a parent & having something like this having to your child 💔

I remember watching that entire interview & this part was an INSANE red flag of manipulation & abuse!! I can only imagine how much this went on behind closed doors for YEARS at a time, before he finally found the courage to file for a separation. Boys have their crushes when their hormones are going wild, but I don’t think anyone believes that he had power over her in the way that she was trying so hard to FORCE MANIPULATE an admittance of. He has such a calm demeanor & I have a feeling that he probably gave in & went along with most of her demands. I also think that while his heart has always been in a genuine place with his daughters, marrying Mary in an attempt to give them a family wasn’t going to help fix the reality. He had a deep sense of responsibility & Mary took full advantage of what she saw as a gullible young boy that she could manipulate emotionally. I think all those early years, it was more of an ego trip for him, but his childhood & upbringing created confusion around what genuine love actually is & again, Mary took advantage of that. She always seemed very disaffected as well. She always had an excuse or cover for questions that were as point blank as right vs wrong. Just ZERO accountability.

That woman had been broken a LONG time. Her strange "word salad" sounds like Wernicke's dementia to me. (Which is caused by either VERY poor diet, likely her case, or alcoholism--which reflects poor diet as well: the body doesn't absorb Thiamine & leads to Mary's inability to form verbal comprehensive arguments). And the damage to that poor boy is extreme. Terrible situation.

That actor looks way too old to accurately portray the difference in age. Guy looks early twenties late teens at most, Fualaau was 12 when she molested him. 13 after she was first released from prison

The film takes place 20-something years after the scandal. Charles Melton’s character is meant to be 36 years old. He’s actually younger than the age he’s portraying.

One thing I do agree with her on is that some 13 year olds are sexually mature and the word “pedophile” refers to one who is attracted to and who molests prepubescent children. While some 13 year olds are still prepubescent, the laws err on the side of caution and by relying solely upon age are not precise. That is NOT an excuse for what she did and whether a 13 year old is sexually mature or not, he (or she) cannot possibly have the emotional maturity to cope with a situation like this. My only point is that people are quick to toss the word “pedophile” around without understanding what it means. This young man apparently matured sexually at a very young age so he probably wanted to have sex with his teacher but again, that is no excuse for her utter lack of judgment and restraint.
