Glad the weather was ok and good place stop along the line to explore. Good to see the old stone crushing site.👍

Sadly I don't get there as often as I'd like - it's just too far to travel making for a very long day, especially during the autumn/winter period with short daylight hours.

I wondered where part 2 was Now I know rain stopped play. Had to laugh at Ross telling you he would be seeing you later as they whizzed past. The emergency stop was a lucky catch, hopefully the cause of it will not be so foolish again, all round an enjoyable video

Goodness only knows when the earlier parts will be ready. I'd been telling Ross about the occasion a few years ago when precisely that happened to me at Murthwaite Halt - a very well-known driver was looking in the opposite direction and didn't see me standing with arm outstretched. Fortunately the guard was more alert and hit the emergency brake. I ended up running down the track while hordes of passengers were hanging out of their coaches trying to see what was going on.

@@schoolshorts LOL What a sight that must of been The look on your face as the train did not stop then you running after it. I hope your files are all saved. I know you re use your SD cards, this is why I keep them as masters and copy files to PC. I may loose edited video but at least can start over again

Tim, do you need to book a seat to travel or can you turn up and get on the train? I know during the pandemic booking was compulsory. 🏴🚂
@schoolshorts7 ай бұрын
Most of the time you can just turn up and buy a ticket but even members like myself will be turned away if a train is fully booked. Advance booking guarantees you a seat.

Very nice. Have you ever been to the leadhills and wanlockhead railway? It never seems to be open!

Yes indeed. One of my old Glaswegian friends volunteers there. No steam, I'm afraid.

As the owner of two miniature live steam locos, I can vouch for the behaviour of today's kids, that have no interest in the engineering aspect of railways. Just give them a video game and they'll be as happy as Larry!!

Happily we do have quite a number of youngsters who are regulars at Carlisle and are both enthusiastic and knowledgeable - so there's still some hope for the future!
