Working as a senior lecturer at Canterbury Christ Church University, May Chen was awarded a grant towards a study that investigates the effect of a multi-dimensional intervention programme on nursing students’ self-efficacy, engagement, and wellbeing.
May’s project improved the wellbeing of the participating nursing students and has also had an impact on current and future patients. Nursing students gained practical tools, theories, skills, and ideas from taking part in the project, which are transferrable to their nursing careers, ultimately benefiting patients under their care too. May says, "a nurse’s health, wellbeing, and personal qualities directly influence their interactions with patients and the quality of care they provide".
