Hi David. Ever since I found John Martyn’s music, some 25 years ago, I was hooked. Took up guitar seriously at the start of lockdown and I’m just getting to the point of achieving this kind of tune. Wish I’d don’t it years ago. I think JM would need more than a shandy if he heard me though 😅 More likely need a bottle of spirt and a fat roll up 😉 Thanks again for the lesson. 9:07 eureka 💡 the two digits on the 2nd & 4th strings. I was just adding my pinky to the 4th so it sounded quite dull and didn’t voice the words as well. 😅 thanks again 😊

Great tutorial David. Clear, concise and your guitar is sounding beautiful. I'm struggling a little to see how the chords are fingered, yunno.. wondering if the shapes are fingered differently because of the capo? But apart from that I'm sold. I'll just go by the sound of the notes when that happens. Hands down this is the best tute I've seen on this song by a country mile. I'm looking forward to more of your relaxed 'easy' going tutorials. 👍🏻😎 Thank you

Thanks, glad you found it! I've just watched a portion of the video back and I can see I didn't put chord diagrams up. Normally, for a simple D chord, I'd put my 2nd finger on the high E string, but since it's not being picked for nearly all of the song, I'm not frettting that top string-but at around 13:15 you can see there's a detail where that high E string is included, and there am using my 1st finger instead. Otherwise I guess the fingering is straightforward, and should be whatever feels most comfortable to you :-D

👌 If you are a guitarist with an intermediate level , it's not so difficult. (l love the end of the song). The great difficulty is the slap and tapping of John ! 🙄

@@dalstondavid That's right ! I've had the chance to see John Martyn often on stage. He was great, funny, especially when he was playing alone or with Danny Thompson. 🤔 Except one time, he was too drunk 🍺🍺🍺 🎸. But, that was our John ! I take this opportunity to make a request. May be one day, l will like to learn "Go Down Easy", on Solid Air album 🤫.
